White flight

Do you believe in white flight?
Do you support it?
Is it good for America?
Are you a product of white flight?
Is it rasist?

Do I believe in White Flight? Of course I do. All of my urban development textbooks have large portions dedicated to white flight, and how it changes city landscapes. It was a very real thing, although I dont think its as big now, because one of the biggest reasons for it was desegregations of schools (ooh...I have to go to school with black people now? I'll just move).

Do I support it? I cannot blame anybody for wanting to move to better school districts, safer areas, and better housing. I don't support a system that still uses things like redlining and twisting bank loans to keep minorities in certain neighborhoods.

Is it good for America?- White Flight isn't so much the issue...the issue is the lack of urban mobility for minorities. They do not have accsess to the same housing tools that whites do.

Am I? -I'm not white. I'm a product of Brown Flight.

Is it RACIST-I think a lot of posters would be surprised about how racist it was, back when it was a huge deal.

Minorities are destroying our cities? That's a very ignorant observation, if not rasist.

Ok, now I'm 99% convinced that you're a hoaxer. Generally, people are capable of realizing their mistakes. You not only contiually repeat that misspelling, but ignore every single response to you that mentions it. Seriously, it's like talking to Red Stranger. In fact, it's identical to talking to Red Stranger.

Dude, it doesn't matter if racist/rasist is used the point is conveyed

I dunno how much it can help, but there is actually a weird reason why he keeps spelling it rasist, like he doesn't want to insult something or whatever. He told why once, but it was so silly I forgot.

Yes, all white people think alike and move in large flocks.

LOL! I just spit Mountain Dew all over myself! :)

It matters because, since he's been correct so many times:
A. he's either a troll/hoaxer/griefer and the misspelling is part of the act.
B. its pointless replying to him because he obviously has no interest in improving or changing himself.

This is exactly what was trying to say, only this is better and funnier.

On the flip side, I'm living in a town with a large hispanic population and find it to be very nice. :)

My family has talked a lot of moving out of here because of the local ghetto. The people there aren't civilized. It isn't enough that my family paid for the ghetto to be built, and the healthcare/schooling for the people there and there welfare. But now we have to spend money to not have to be with them. These people owe us a lot.

He admited that it was an intended misspelling, as akin to spelling "woman" "womyn" as a form of "protest" against it.

Of course, the womyn misspelling is just as stupid. "man" was originally a word that did not indicate the male gender, but a singular person. Woman comes from the old english wifman, from wer + man which meant "female human", as opposed to wæpman, from wer + man, "male human". "wer" eventually dissapeared from the language (as well with most germanic languages), and wifman eventually developed into woman. ("wif" also developed into wife, a pretty obvious etymology)

It reeks of historical revisionism. Even if you were doing something like this, the proper answer would be to have a modern english version of "human male", say, wereman (since werewolf is an example of where wer is kept) Regardless, it's still stupid to change a word like this which goes far beyond political correction into an attack on language itself.

Then again, using the swedish spelling as a protest against its existance probably makes even less sense. Unlike womyn, the word "racism" has no prejudice for itself, and there is no reason to change it.

Gentrification FTW!

While I am young, and I have not solidified my views on socialism, I am quite eclectic in regards to different ideas and methods. I guess I'm the closest to a western European left wing socialist.

What the hell?

No. Just no.

Don't tarnish our good name with your moronic, angsty little Che Guevara wet-dreams, while sitting there, sipping coke while your parents put you through Princeton.
