Who built the Egyptian Pyramids?

So, who really did build the pyramids?

But seriously, I still think it was the Egyptians. I just have one question. Is there anything that we do not know about the pyramids? Like exactly how it was built? When it was built? How long did it take to build it? If we build it now how would we go about doing it? etc.

If the answers to all the above are known then the Egyptians built it is the most plausible theory.

Ok how about this: the early Egyptians (before they were even Egyptians) moved into the Nile region and encountered the already immensely old Sphinx. They were shocked and awed and formed a religion and culture around it. It led them to eventually build the Pyramids.

It is possible. However it violates Occam's Razor since it is not the most simple theory. Hence, for me to believe it you have to provide some evidence. Do you have any? If so can you succintly state what they are.

{I am seeing too many website links referred here and there who go on and on and do not state briefly what they are trying to prove. }

Betazed, no evidence at all Im afraid. Merely a firm belief that there were vastly older human civilizations, long before our current one began a mere 6000 years ago, that have been lost in time and forgotten. I think these civilizations were much smaller than ours, not global and spacefaring. They were therefore more vulnerable to being wiped out by drastic climate change at the onset and ending of the Ice Ages. It seems inconcievable to me that humans have been on this planet for 100 or 200,000 years, and ours is the first advanced civilization to arise.

Actually I think theres plenty of evidence around us of those past civilizations, but we naturally assume they belong to ours. People see what they expect to see, even scientists.

Tassadar, the concrete theory is interesting, but I was under the impression that they know where the stones were quarried from. Also, if the Egyptians had invented such a durable form of concrete, wouldnt they have used it in other applications, and not just for pyramids?
