Why are we bored? We live in rich country's and can do whatever we want. But we are bored. If we walk into a bookstore or a library, oh my god there are so much interesting books to read, but we don't. Life is beautiful, but we're bored. People are georgeous, but we're bored. Don't understand.

If you are not bored, why not?

We can't appreciate what we got because we want more.

bored? since 2001 I've never had any free time to be bored.

It's called the internet. And if you still get bored: MMORPG. Now you've got a time-sink.

I wouldn't worry about boredom, provided you have a certain measure of control over your time and activities. Then it's a necessary stage in coming up with something interesting to do.

I'd worry more about pre-packaged activities designed to entertain for the moment. Get addicted to that, and you will probably end up bored in between, without the necessary skills to come up with something interesting to do on your own.

Personally, I am exceedingly rarely bored. I would have no problem at all filling another 10 hours if a day had 34 of them instead of 24. Mindy you, I am not saying that I manage my time wisely or do useful things with it but there never seems to be enough. Movies, TV, goofing around with my niece, poker, computer games, going for a beer, odd studying flashes, clean up, a lecture every now and then, silly forums, shopping, eating, telephone, etc etc. I will often try to do two things at a time just to get it all done. But I guess I have the fortune of being able to easily entertain myself without the need of others. My brother always needs somebody around to not be bored, hence the kid I guess :D Wonder what's it going to be like when I have one of those, sheesh.

Virtually unlimited options does not necessarily bring happiness.

Check out Paradox of Choice on Google Video.

People think unfettered freedom brings happiness but oft-times it's just the opposite (discipline & responsibility bring it better, especially in conjunction w/ bonding & solidarity).

The unending desire for more, laziness (i.e. its not worth the effort), pride, a lack of appreciation for the good things in life, idleness, and close-mindedness. We're all victim to this to some extent.

Boredom is preferable over living as a wild animal and spending every moment of your life wondering if there's a mountain lion hiding behind a nearby tree and waiting to pounce on you.

Boredom is also preferable over that car accident I was in a decade ago. Well, actually I've been in two in my life, and they both sucked.

So, not worrying about the why. :)

Yes, I get bored. Simply because I'm sometimes NOT ALLOWED to enjoy the fun things life has, cuz of my homework. :cringe:

And BTW school starts for me tomorrow, in 15 hours to be exact.

11 hours here >.<

Why are we bored? Constant overstimulation. We expect too much, and when things aren't bright red we don't want to pay attention.

I'm not bored right now. I'm usually only bored at work, but I kill that time with the internet and then go do interesting things.

i've been bored all day long, but thats what you get for working and doing menial tasks.

yesterday was not boring in the least. that jags game was awesome.

What are interesting things to do?

In other countries they're not bored cause they're always trying to avoid death/starvation/rape/speaking funny languages. Boredom is a luxury.

I only get bored when I´ve got much to do ( like, you guessed it, right now :D ).
Then I don´t do what I should, but start thinking of what I could do instead of it, but I can´t decide because the task at hand blocks my creativity and I spend hours just sitting in a corner, smoking too much :( .
