Well Diamond/Pearl was a runner-up at IGN for Best RPG of 2007, so they can't be that bad nowadays.

I think this qualifies as an appeal to authority fallacy. IGNorant.com has little to no authority. At the very least, as Abgar pointed out, we're here to share our opinions, not random other people's.

I was actually arguing the fact that Pokemon is not a "proper" RPG, seeing as its mostly linear.

Somewhat off-topic, but I'd agree. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any other label that would work.

On a final note, there are 150 pokemon, and only 150. At least for those of us who are really hardcore.

Actually 151 for the hardcore crowd. If you can't get 151 in R/B/Y, you ain't hardcore. As for pokemon being linear and not a proper RPG. It's a JRPG. Not a fancy free roaming do whatever you want mmorpg or western rpg.

I still have my original save from the day I got Red version. Which was launch. I have over 600 hours on it. A friend of mine has 450+ hours on his Crystal version. I would like to buy Blue, Yellow, Gold and Silver again as I lost mine. Can never find them though.

I not going to lie and say I haven't picked up my gameboy and played some pokemon indiscretely when I bored, but I wouldn't consider it a habit any more, it's just that the hook is in deep.

Don't think of it as a "hook" think of it as a "candy". Just eat the "candy". The "candy" doesn't judge you; it just wants to be your friend. Mmmm... candy...

It's a good game, and I really enjoyed Pokemon Blue when I got it, would recommend it to anyone. Problem is, I recently bought Pokemon Diamond, hoping for a game that would be similar to the first one I bought, and got one that was pretty much exactly the same.

Like I say, would recommend having a Pokemon game to anyone who has a Gameboy, just never to buy another. The series seems to be like FIFA - each game has same gameplay, different stats.

Simply bringing out cartidgdes that differ by ONE pokemon to reall cash in does my tits in too.

That's the most annoying part.

My favourite Pokémon was (and still is, I guess) Octillery, but of the three Pokémon games I've owned, none had Remoraid/Octillery in. So I never got to use one.

Apart from that, it's a pretty good franchise. The people who say G/S/C was the peak are worthy of some QFTs (my Crystal got burgled ). I haven't played it in a while, though.

@ The statement about differing versions in the same generation. They had alot of different things. Different items, trainers, sometimes different story goals. They are not differing by very little.

No. You obviously lack the intelligence to discern what is a improved, developed sequel on a game and what is a damn rehash.
