And you don't have to reload to beat them to it if you investigate on 4 turns before they complete it, and you have six turns left. If you can get assemble enough shields to get down to 4 turns the same turn you investigate, you'll get the wonder because if you both have 4 turns left it will go to the human player.

Back to topic: I hate starting next to Bismarck on higher-level panga, as has the most agressive setting and starts with warrior code... Montezuma can also be a pain.

What drives me a bit nuts too is when i'm playing a limited civ game with a large map, everyone but me gets their own island ( setting to archipelago course) and my neighbor happens to be germany or MONTY. I end up in a war for 3000 years while the others build to their hearts content.

That much? You should kill them off ASAP.

Even if you're in a peaceful-style game, having your own island completely free of foreign presence is too much of an advantage to be dismissed. Now, for the Germans there may be a case because they can assist you in technological development, but for the Aztecs, there's simply no reason to refrain from destroying them as fast as possible.

I've always had problems wih Cleo. She almost always declares war (My first war in Civ3) on me or starts so close to me that I have to go attack her. Oh the memories of Memphis being burned *sigh*.

Agreed. Everytime I'm near her territory, she declares war on me and everytime I have to completely conquer her or she'll try again later. If I start near her now I automatically begin planning to attack. Shaka Zulu also picks fights with me often.

I was starting to think I was the only one having these troubles with Cleo. My experience with her is the same as yours. I know I'm supposed to have -5 for running Republic but no other AI seems to be as aggressive towards me.

Anyways, the Cleo relations in CF weren't that bad, she just had the wrong starting position. I've had much worse issues with her in my other games.
