Why is Sweden so good in pop music?

USA and UK probably are better in absolute number of hits than Sweden, but when it comes to population ratio Sweden is dominating over everybody. How is it possible?

The paper seems to focus on circumstantial factors, but as I recall Sweden also does simply invest more than other nations in musical education. + Swedes are good in English, because it is a "out-ward-orientated" nation as the paper says, but also because it runs English movies and TV shows in their original language since it would be too expensive for the few Swedes to do otherwise.

Why do Swedish pop groups feature such average-looking women? Given the reputation of Swedish women, I'd expect spectacularly hot once in a while.

Yes, I'm being a pig, but it's part of the overall blandness that gives us occasional Swedish one-hit wonders, and even with the odd ABBA-level success, who (besides other Swedes) can name any of the singers?

It's weird, but Abba's Dancing Queen is a totally better song if you have a subwoofer.

Also, Cardigans are great.

Also gaming. Guessing Dachs plays EU4?

like a little bit but me liking power metal about military history kinda predates the Sabaton EU4 soundtrack DLC

by a lot

I saw the Cardigans live here in London Ont Canada in the 90s, in a small bar, it was awesome. Some other Swedish band opened up for them, no idea who they were, but they were tight and awesome too.

Stayed around to chat with the lady after the show, because the coworker I went with was a huge fan (while I was a fan but wouldn't have minded if we went home). Well, we got to meet her and chat with her for a bit while her bandmates picked out groupies. I assume she doesn't do groupies, which is why we didn't get to join the party, that or we were just too ugly. But it was awesome nevertheless
