Originally posted by MrPresident I hardly think it is fair to blame Marx for Stalin's reign of terror. Mel Gibson (and his crazy father) clearly dislike jews. Hence I will not watch his crappy movie since I'd be investing in racist propaganda that rails against the history of my own (kinda) people. After all, I AM a damn christhating rightwing zionist jew.

I saw it. I saw it because I am religous (though still believing in evolution...Like that theologic evolution bit...) and because I heard it was a good cinematic experiece. I must say, it was wonderfully done!
Which is what I meant when I said that I wouldn't see it, because I am a Catholic (a real one).
Originally posted by Hundegesicht I saw it out of curiousity... a good movie for believers I guess, but highly over rated. If you're really seeking answers it'll just leave you with more questions and if not then what's the point? As far as Entertainment it has no value whatsoever.
Would you mind saying why this is so? I have no great love of the Church of England myself but your statement is as about as bigoted and irrational as saying "all Americans are fat, ugly, uneducated hillbillies." (not related, but an allegory Definitely there are people and rules in the church of England that must be "crap" (same for any organization) but I fail to see how that justifies your hatred of anything and everything even "supported by the Church of England."
Sheesh, man, open your mind some. You're the one who'll miss out most if what you allow yourself to experience is driven by you despising products simply because "so and so organization supported it."
I haven't seen it and don't want to because I am not religious and I think Mel Gibson is a ---insert foul language here--- who trys to pass of films as real history when they are really almost entirely fiction.
I just saw the Passion of the Christ (just released in UK) and I thought it was brillant. I'm not even close to a Christian but after viewing this film I got it. I understand why people believe in him. I'm not saying it converted me or anything like that (I just ignored the last scene). I just got it, something clicked. Also it's not that violent at all, and neither is it anti-semitic. In fact, I saw it as being anti-organised religion rather than anti-Jews, as well as being very anti-Roman. Finally the guy who played Jesus deserves an Oscar, he was incredible.
