WNESX-2: A New Fresh Restart

Decloak: Isn't terribly hard to figure out who hasn't been paying attention to either map thread... :p

Technical Notice from the Creator: Saving the map as a .png is a really terrible idea. It's already almost half a megabyte in size. There's a reason it's a .gif and there's a color-key in the bottom-left corner.

Blah blah blah. I'll save it how I want to save it. gifs and jpgs will pixilize it when I save it on my computer, so png it is. :p

I may join. I want something away from the norm. As in no Balkans, Anatolia, Egypt, Middle East or China

India isn't on that list of yours. ;)

Six nations in the Middle East, and none elsewhere. I definitely don't mind the former, but I would strongly encourage anyone who joins after this to go someplace else.

You want people whining about how long it takes to load when it creeps up towards 1MB, your problem then. :p

I've always saved as .png and its never bothered anyone before.

Maybe because it wasn't already half a megabyte in size with virtually nothing on it then?

You're right, the old maps were somewhere around 150-250kb usually. But its not going to increase dramatically the more the map expands. Maybe upwards to 600kb (the old map only expanded about 100kb after being filled in)

Background: The Minoans, early inhabitants of the Peloponnese turned refugees, have been living on their island for thousands of years now and have turned greatly from the once-shared culture of the mainland. The city of Knossos is very important for trade and sea voyages, which is a way of life for the Minoans. A strong cult based on the fertility of the bull is prevalent on the island, uniting the people under one state religion. The King is the ultimate power with his seat in Knossos, but is highly influenced by the Court of Knossos, a ring of aristocratic land owners and merchants.

Notes:

an almost purely Agricultural society, with a small amount of trade. only recently has it started to develop cities..

Very odd to have just started developing cities, and being in the most developed zone ;)

well, realativly recently, like the last 100 years or so. Lots and lots of small towns and villigies though. call it industrial potential instead. if you want.

Gojoseon (dldnjstjr)
Government: Imperial Monarchy
Background: Founded by Hwanung in the region of Korean Peninsula. The capital is at the city of Sinsi.

I'm sorry but currently Korea isn't advanced enough yet to have created a civilization. Feel free to wait to make your nation if you'd like.

1500 bc Since only nations in the middle and late bronze age are being counted, and Korea at this point may be starting the early bronze (1500-1000 bc is suspected as the beginning of bronze culture in korea), Korea isn't an option at the moment.

History says that Gojoseon was founded in 2300 BC. How many turns would it take for it to be available?

Basically until ~1000 bc which may be 10 turns. (I'm thinking 50 years per turn)

Gojoseon is first found in contemporaneous historical records of early 7th century BC, as located around Bohai Bay and trading with Qi (齊) of China. At this point, it was identified as a distinct polity, but there is little archaeological evidence of a fully functioning state.[7]

Some historians argue that "Dangun" may have been the title of Gojoseon's early leaders. The legitimacy of the Dangun seems to have been derived from the divine lineage of Hwanin, a religious characteristic found in other ancient fortified city-states, such as those of Ancient Greece.

I'm possibly interested in playing Dilmun, an historical state on the island of Bahrain that had it's golden age around 2300-1600 BC. Currently it is in the black zone. Would I be able to play them straight out of the gate? If not, how long will I have to wait?

I'll just join with some other nation

Troy (dldnjstjr)
Government: Imperial Monarchy
Background: Nation founded on edge of the Black Sea's entrace, facing the Aegean Sea and Greece.

If you look up flyingchicken has already taken Troy (Ilion)

I was unaware of its existence, after looking it up from what I understand at this time it was going into a nosedive with the lack of Indus trade. If you'd like to take them go ahead though.
