WNESX-2: A New Fresh Restart

To: Our illustrious friends in the realm of Jemen
From: Your loyal friend and partner, King Raskim V of Dilmun

We have had great success and growing coffers from our overland trade. However, the deserts are harsh and few are hardy enough to make the journey. We wish to establish a trading town on the harbour of your capital.

The settlement will comparatively small, surrounded by a wall, staffed with a small garrison, built around a harbour, and supported by a small farming community. This settlement will facilitate trade and encourage the vessels of Dilmun and her allies to travel the long distance to Jemen.

A hundred years ago my ancestors established a similar trading post, known as Bakran, on the mouth of Babylon’s rivers. It has brought us profit beyond count. We believe that establishing another of these in the heart of your empire’s trading network, we can bring more of your wonderful exports, and bring you vast quantities imports from Dilmun, Babylon, Elam, and further a field to the north, east, and west.

Nice update, nice quick turn around.. orders soon :)

Any chance of a labelled map please?

Here you go:

to Damasqua:
Retreat your forces or suffer the consequence of annoying the Phenician king.

to Cnaan:
e have no aggressive ideals. Damasqua invaded Phenicia and soon they will invade Canaan. We suggest the formation of an alliance among us to defend from such evil empires.

In addition to my earlier comment, is it true that despite Ilion losing 1 commerce from my ships pirating theirs, I didn't recieve a point of commerce?

Yup. You, in addition to Mycenae and Minoa, stopped some trade routes going to Troy, thus destroying a commerce. Since what was once 1 commerce is split between 3 nations now (and some is lost altogether), none get it.

From Damasqua:
We will not retreat. You will agree to our terms or we will crush your cities one by one.

From Canaan:
We can agree with an alliance with Phenicia, but truly what is in it for us? Perhaps if you agree to fill our coffers with gold(1 commerce) we could agree to an alliance and fund our war.

Sorry to keep bugging you about this, but do the 2 points (1 industry and 1 agriculture) that I was going to use to build those cities in the Dorian's land get banked considering those plans were not fulfilled?

Yes you can spend these points this turn. I normally would not want to allow banking points though.

to Canaan:
Agreed, and since we have no interest in almost any Damasqua lands you are welcome to ruler them all.

to Damasqua:
No. You will be forced out of your own lands soon enough. May you burn in Hades.

My dear Dilmun friends,

The offer you bring us sounds great, yet we have a simular offer to make.
Perhaps we can build some sort of embassy on eachothers biggest coastal city. This way we both can learn about our cultures, coördinate trade and work toghetter...

Your close friend and neigbour,

Jemen

To our southern friend, the lord of Jemen
From his eternal ally, the King of Dilmun

Yes, this is acceptable. This way both of us shall profit from shared resources, harbours, and more. Along with our servant who bears this message is information regarding our primary settlements and trade networks.

The Jemeni will always be welcome in these settlements, as we Dilmuni will always be welcome in Jemen.

Expect the first settlers with a year. We will prepare a glorious welcome for your subjects when they arrive.

*Secret*

These settlement notes include details of a planned settlement on the horn of Africa.

Thankyou!

I don't mean to whine, but after a century of profitable sea trade, shouldn't my Commerce go up?

You're not really getting any more than you have in the past. You're getting more goods from Dilmun, which in turn was stolen from previous Elam sources. Dilmun's infantile trade with Jemen has yet to increase their commerce let alone your own. Babylon's sea trade at this point would have to be based on the Indus-Fertile Crecent trade routes which have all but vanished; kept afloat by Dilmun's voyages east.

Anyways I'd like orders by tomorrow or Saturday like usual.
