Woah! Prokhor Zakharov older than some CFCers

I still can't believe people born after 1990 can vote.

(waits for someone to say the same thing about those born after 1970)

Nothing like old games to make you feel...old.

I think, in the USA, the voting age should be 16. I'm not sure on the exact info, but everyone who works pays income tax, if you pay it, you should get a say on how it's spent.

I'm having a hard enough time believing people born after April '92 can vote.

For me at least, the world can be sorted into two clear distinct groups for the purposes of granting certain rights. People older than me, and people younger than me.

I cannot give you very much details about this great Russian Scientist  Because information I got are rated classified :mischief:

The best part of dated sci-fi are the books that tried to be 'realistic' with their timelines. Case Point: Ben Bova's Colony. Takes place in 2008 where civilization collapses. Whoops.

The finest example I can think of was Norman Spinrad's Russian Spring (a pretty good book, really) which posits an economically reformed Soviet Union gaining the advantage in the Cold War during the first decades of the 21st century. Between the time the author submitted his final draft to the editor and the time the book was printed and on the shelves, it was already turned into alternate history due to there no longer being a Soviet Union....

Yeah, I'll say that for you! I still can't believe people born after 1970 can vote. Pretty convenient that I was born in 68. In fact, I think that would be grand if the voting age was pretty much kept just under my current age. Young 30-somethings and 20-somethings probably don't have my interests at heart, so why let them vote??

Coming from a 16 year old (who's almost 17, btw :D), there doesn't seem to be any difference between the average 16 year old and the average 18 year old in terms of capacity to comprehend and evaluate different political views.

Some of my good friends are politically active, and I'm considering joining a youth party myself.

It was crazy when election time came around this year. We had school-elections where you got to vote. My social circles were divide. I didn't particularly care about whether or not someone voted for the social democrats or the moderates (though I'd always ask them to explain why), but some went out of their way to mess with each other.

Phew, I'm barely older than Prokhor.

One of his best quotes:

"Man's unfailing capacity to believe what he prefers to be true rather than what the evidence shows to be likely and possible has always astounded me. We long for a caring universe which will save us from our childish mistakes, and in the face of mountains of evidence to the contrary we will pin all our hopes on the slightest of doubts. God has not been proven to exist, therefore he must exist."

I totally agree.:)

Well, coming from a 19 year old, I'd say people our age are quite a bit more naive than we think.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. We have found Chairman Yang. He is now an old man and possibly not going to survive for very long:
