Yes, that is only about $20k a year, but room and board are also included, so that money is basically free and clear. Not bad given the experience you gain.

The pay is awfully similar to what a teenager should make working at a low-pay job, and while living at home.

Though "Four months at McDonalds" vs. "Four month in the Antarctic" might look different on one's CV.

Heck, one of my friends' Dad went down there to run an ultra marathon. I'm sure I could tough it out for money like that.
