good thoughts on the leaders!! BTW, there is an arab league: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab_league
It has 22 member countries, so it's pretty significant.

good idea also about making khazakstan a peaceful barb

You could do that, or you could also unite all of the "Stans" into their own Civ, except for Afghanistan and Pakistan.

One thing about the leaderheads: I notice that the trait Imperialistic has been used. In a pre-set scenario, this trait declines in usefulness because settlers aren't as important. However, you might make it more useful by also adding something like "Free Raider promotion to armored units." This would also be a good idea, because in this mod, an imperialistic leader would likely expand by conquering cities, rather than founding them.

Nice! good idea about the promotion instead of settlers, I think we should look over most of the traits, some will be absolute rubbish for countries that are small (organized) and some will be super helpful expecially for wars, like charismatic.

BTW, there is an arab league: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab_league
It has 22 member countries, so it's pretty significant.

You're right about the number of members but I would refrain from putting states with major conflicts among each other like Sudan, Egypt and Syria into one civ. If it is already problematic to create EU as an own civ then doing the same with the Arab League IMO would grossly skew reality. Let me quote Wikipedia on that: "The Arab League differs notably from some other regional organizations such as the European Union, in that it has not achieved any significant degree of regional integration and the organization itself has no direct relations with the citizens of its member states."

Yeah, I think it's good to seperate them, but in the interests of processors everywhere, if we NEEDED to dumb it down a little, that's one place we might be able to.

I think more important is to create at least pre-alpha version of scenario with those cities and factions and names, to start arguing about some version of map...

And I miss Taiwan and South Korea from new list of civs, on the other hand I can live without Colombia or Myanmar.

And I miss Taiwan and South Korea from new list of civs, on the other hand I can live without Colombia or Myanmar.

South Korea is on the list, you just read over it. ;)
Well I'd like Taiwan, Colombia AND Myanmar as civs... :D

You're right, my fault...
IMO Myanmar is not so big hot spot to be included, even Tibet is bigger and with higher chance that something would go wrong.
And, well, I'd like play the scenario on my archaic computer anyway :-)

Reminds me that I'd love to see random event like "Change of lead political party", which could change relations with foreign country or, if possible, even maybe some characteristics of leader. It's not just for year 2008, right?

Don't forget, half a year ago pictures of marching buddhist monks from Myanmar went around the world. The regime managed to suppress the protest but it could start again every day.

Hmmm...it would be nice to include Olympic Games into the game but that's another story...

I know that, but Myanmar isn't really in cold war with some foreign country, like other hot spot states the scenario has... I'd give it to China or peaceful barbs. On the other hand, everyone is interested in Tibet.

I had the same thought, I'd like to see much more random events with bigger impact.

Tibet should be made into its own civ, but should be a vassal state of China.
Also, about Nato, would it be possible to make it more like another UN like organization but with limited membership like the Apostleistic Palace?

the problem with paceful barbs (like independent states in rhyes and fall i presume) is that every country ends up declaring war and taking over the land because there is no reprocussions.

Also Kazhakstan is just too big to give away to russia, so plz i beg you add it in:p

and also tibet shouldnt be its own civ, it is occupied by china and its govt is in exile, how would that be considered its own civ:confused:

Tibet should be made into its own civ, but should be a vassal state of China.

I like this idea a lot. Would be cool if we could include that much civs...if not, barbarian monks must do it ;)

I put together a list of great people. I chose only persons who are still alive or who died after 2000. Of course it is a subjective list. The artists were super difficult, especially musicians...for them I chose a mixture out of personal favourites, musicians who sold a lot of records after 2000 and ones who got awarded for their lifetime achievements. So don't laugh at me because of the chosen musicians... :)

Note: I think that "Great Prophets" as great people are not suited for our 2008 scenario. I can hardly think of "Prophets" today who have serious impact. There's the Pope and the Dalai Lama and that's it basically. So I think "Great Prophets" should be replaced with a group made up of intellectuals, dissidents, philosophers and people of faith which I'd call simply "Great Intellectuals". And in that way I chose names for this Great People list.
Also I'd suggest to call "Great Merchants" "Great Entrepreneurs".

Here is my list:

Oh dear, look at that patriarchic world...there are hardly any women.

I imagine them as two distinct civs:

Permanent Neutrality: Cannot build military units (other than basic defenses); Cannot declare war; If war is declared on them, all bordering civs declare war on the attacker (unless they have alliances with the attacker)*
Peaceful Nations: Can build military units; Can (but very unlikely to) attack others; If attacked, nothing really happens

What are your thoughts on that?

*Imagine the way Belgium was invaded during WWI

perfect.

..

Yep, all the leaders currently in power should lead their civs. We have a Bush LH, an Armadinehjad LH and a Kim-Jong-Il LH ready made. As for the others, there are many leaders around we could use. I'll link to some of the modern custom leaders to see if they'd fit.

Plus: we can thank mourndraken, who is currently working on a Putin leaderhead for us. :)

We have to keep Putin guys, come on. They just changed his title, he still leads Russia. In 15 years he'll be the "secretary of education", but will still lead the country (and we can use the same leaderhead for V5.0).
