World of Tanks Beta

Bought a Panther the other day. Hated it at first, but when finally getting the 75 mm L/100 things have improved. Might also have something to do with the playing style - I went down the Pz III/IV / VK3001H line.

Got my AMX 13 90 fully upgraded today and it's kicking ass.

Also, only 14k xp away from the IS-4.

Anyone got any idea how you're going to train your new crew skills?

Slowly becomes aware of Mobboss in hes tiny Maus. Casually one shots him with the main gun on my Rattle.

Sixth sense - found good but a bit slow to update
Smoothride + Snapshot = free VGL
Signal range = free coated optics
Then good old repair and camo

A lot of people in my clan go with Brother in Arms as their first skill when re-specializing the skills.
I find it's pretty appropriate for medium tanks and artillery.

The crew skills are pretty situational to your vehicle, imho. The clutch-turning is really useful for a fast scout, slow heavies, and turretless TDs.
OTOH, I have my churchill as a command tank with: the commander having recon; the radioman having relay, situational awareness, and extended range; and the tank has binoculars.

I do notice that not having as many repair skill and camo skill points does really make a difference. Track hits are more of a problem now.

I'd also think about having the commander's first skill be mentor if you want to rapidly get four skills in each slot.

I've been taking a large break but now I guess I need to get back in and grind cash for my IS-4 before it gets bumped to tier 10 and the cost doubles...

Also I will get a free tier 9 heavy :D

Right now, an equipment sale and 5x exp per day is going on if you don't know.

Quite an enjoyable game, though getting further down the line when it comes to the tank following the Leopard and getting to the Hummel is difficult to do at times. Hetzer plays very nicely and can hide extremely well.

If you don't have or have sold your tetrarch, keep some tier 2 for a fun stress relief (pz35 or pz II are nice).

Scout tanks are a little bit of a disappointment except for the T-50 / T-50-2. The nerf made them a little bit less fun though.

I think you mean going to Pz3/4 to Hummel. I did that and actually I like the Pz3/4 a bit. It played well as a tank destroyer that can get to cover fast.

I agree that the tetrarch is fun once you get your crew trained. I also like the captured Hotchkiss a little too, at least on the Province map. The most fun low tier for me was the T82 with the 105mm gun, and the M2 medium with the 75mm howitzer.

Wait are they using Cold War tanks now? Because that's exactly what I want

It's approximately anything up to 1950s in terms of technology. They have Chinese T-59s since they're basically T-54s which the devs trace to about 1946 in terms of development. They have the AMX 13s which were developed about that time too (a couple years later).
A lot of the design decisions aren't strict exactly, but to get certain nations into the game with enough tanks to justify a grindy tech tree. The flipside is they said there wouldn't be an Italian tech tree on the grounds that they didn't make enough tank designs. They also said no Israeli tanks like a Super Sherman which would be about mid-1950s based on the AMXs.

I think for most of mine I went Brothers In Arms for first crew skill. 2nd set was Mentor for the tank commander, then camo for everyone else. Third skills a toss up depending upon position.

I just received a bonus code in my email today, for starting a new account in World of Tanks.
Fortunately for someone other than me, it has to be a new account.

Any Civfanatics that want to start an account, PM me, and I'll give you my bonus code (I assume it works for any email, although I can't be sure, so no promises that the code will work or what the bonus actually is, although I'd assume it's some free game gold at least).

I've pretty much stopped playing... too frustrating to be on bad teams, too much name-calling, etc., and I'm more busy now that I'm working ~14 hours a week

Haven't played in a month or so.

7.4 just came out and was re-patched today. The new game modes are pretty fun, and the new French TD line is pretty fun. I bought into the S-35 (tier 5 French TD) and it is pretty awesome stock, and better with the 90mm gun. I got Master qual in it in less than 30 battles and quite a few kills. Generally at least 2 kills per match.

It's sort of the new KV-1 with derp for this patch, though more like an ARL.

i downloaded the installation file. now when i try to run it, the comp lags out :(

wooden pc

Started playing again last week sometime.

My IS-4 is elite, and it kicks ass - bounced two IS7 shells to my front and penned his front three times without even aiming. HA!

I also picked up a Type 59 during the sale (ends Aug 17 IIRC). Thing is trollbouncy as ever and I made 68k creds on my third match in it.
