WORLD WAR II Scenario (Worldmap)

Well, i downloaded this yesterday. and i tried to run it. and it started and i picked the civ i wanted and everything.. but after i pressed ok. it stopped loading at configuring scenario and wouldn't keep going.. ?? what do i do??

It likely was not frozen at all but just still loading. I read from the first post that this is 145 MB so it would probably take a good while to load this and configuring is the longest step. Just wait a while longer. :)

see i went to school and came back and it ran and i played but.. it takes like 3 hours.. if i download the fast version will it make it faster??

Sounds very probable. :p (I've never played this one)

Um, Stupid question. Shouldn't India be part of the British Empire?

Here is a reupload of the files that I´m still having backed up. The reupload was wished in that post and in a pm I have received. Swasticas and Hitler portraits were replaced by neutral files. Please take into account, that this is no scenario I have created and therefore I´m not the one to answer questions or requests about that scenario. Please consider, that this scenario was released in 2005 and therefore has some very old and outdated units - but also some unique units in good quality. In my eyes it is still a good WW2 scenario - even today.

The scenario is for C3C and must be installed in the C3C scenarios folder. Install it there that way:

1. Unzip the WWII zip file into the C3C scenarios folder
2. Unzip the Units zip file into the WWII\Art folder
3. Unzip the WWII biq files WWII_the World at War, WWII_the World at War_v2 and WWII_the World at War_fast into the C3C scenarios folder
4. The attached original WWIIv2Patch1Installer can replace the graphics of the SAS unit and the civilopedia graphics of 3 units.

I think this reupload is in the sense of the creators of that scenario and enables them to redo and improve their lost scenario files, if they still have any interest in doing that.

Attention: So the rared Units folder has 145,5 MB and therefore is below the maximum upload size of 146,5 MB for a single upload, the zipped Units folder is not appearing as an attachment to this post, while it was shown during the upload, that 100 % of the file were uploaded. I will have to split the Units file in at least two parts and hope, that I can add them tomorrow. At present the reupload is not complete !

Edit:
Even the first part of the splitted units file with only 79,1 MB does not appear as an attachement to this post. May be the size of the attachment limit that CFC shows for an upload, is wrong. Unfortunately it will now last some time until this will be cleared at CFC.

Civinator,

Could you eventually reupload the Units folder somewhere, or is this scenario still considered "lost"?

Thanks!

dobragab, I think I still have the files on one of my old archive harddrives. Griffin140 posted, that he is in contact with the creators of that scenario and I suggested him a way in a pm how to transfer the creators back their files, as at that time it seemed that one of the creators lived in my urban region.
Unfortunately Griffin140 never answered to that pm in years.

The upload limit for attachments to posts at CFC now seems to be even more severe and be lowered from those 146,5 MB to under 30 MB.

If you are "only" needing the modified units, can you please list what units you want. Some of the Africa Corps units are in the mod CCM 3. Some modified destroyers with added water bomb explosions are based on obsolete units and therefore are not in that mod.

Edit: After having a look into the first of my old zip-files in post 133, I understand your request about the unit folder better, as it seems, that this is the only missing folder in that zip. With the release of the mod CCM 3, I could try to do a solution similar to the solution with the mod RARR and to connect the missing units with the units of CCM 3 by a reworked pediaicons file and a link in the biqs of that scenario to CCM 3 and to restrict additional units, that are not contained in CCM 3, to a folder under 30 MB.

Yes, the mod is only missing the Units folder. It would be the easiest to just send the whole scenario folder as is.

I can help hosting these files on a server. (I have been maintaining minor websites since 2016 or so... I can't believe the reason nobody can play these mods is there is "no way" to host the files.) It won't be any worse than the original solution either.

Then we just need to find a way to send me the files. The options are almost limitless. Google drive, splitting up the archive in multiple files (rar, r00, r01, etc.) and posting them in 3 posts, Mediafire, etc.

As written in the edit of my last post, I am working on a solution, that this scenario can be hosted in an updated version at CFC. Some days patience please.

Hulk, gRUmbL and mindw0rm, thank you very much for creating such an interesting scenario 20 years ago!

This post contains a playable version of the scenario WWII_the World at War. The download of this scenario was created with 7zip and can be easily unpacked with WinRAR or 7zip into the C3C scenarios folder. In the download, the WWII biq is outside the WWII folder, so it can be directly unzipped into the scenarios folder of C3C and the WWII biq will stay outside the WWII folder as it should be. Please don´t mix up the needed C3C scenarios folder with the scenarios folder of Civ 3 Vanilla!

A link to the free 7zip can be found in this post: https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/downfall-post-apocalyptic-mod.652989/page-2#post-15756293
and as an alternative a free trial download of WinRAR can be found in several locations in the internet.

The scenario also needs the installation of the mod CCM 3 in the C3C scenarios folder, as most units and other graphics of WWII_the World at War are provided bei that mod. The mod CCM 3 holds more than 1000 WW2 units and will also be the base for the upcoming comeback of the WW2 scenarios SOE and WW2 Global Gold. So if you are interested in these scenarios, you will need the installation of CCM 3 anyways.

You can find CCM 3 and informations about its installation here: https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/ccm3-epic-mod.690497/#post-16624625

The installation of the C3X mod (former Flintlock mod) is not needed for playing WWII_the World at War, but it is highly recommended. In case that the C3X mod is installed in the C3C mainfolder, the WWII_the World at War holds a scenario.c3x_config file that enables the AI use of offensive land artillery and the No-Raze option of C3X. You can find the C3X mod (current version R20) here: https://forums.civfanatics.com/resources/c3x.28759/

If you have the steam version of Civ 3 Complete, you have to deal with an additional issue in the text folder of the WWII_the World at War scenario. In the text folder of the 1989 scenario you must rename (or cut out) the labels text file and rename the labels-Steam text file to labels, otherwise the steam version of Civ 3 Complete will play havoc with the texts of that scenario.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nearly 20 years ago I had a lot of fun playing this scenario. Some of the unit settings to me seem weird, but they still stay in version 3 of this scenario to do no harm to the balance of this scenario. The techtree of era 4 (Post War) in some parts had to be reworked, as in version 2, it had some weird settings (per example a SW that enables the spacerace victory, but the space race victory is not available in this scenario or the M42 Duster enabled much later when the much better mobile SAM unit is available in the game since a longer time). I reflected to cut out the complete Post War era and replace it by a late war era but than I decided to keep the Post War era in that scenario, as it was in version 2 of this scenario, too.

The connection with CCM 3 provides to that scenario many graphically massively updated units and units that were not available, when this scenario was released (per example the mk I and mk II destroyers now are replaced by meanwhile available different destroyer classes.) On the other side WWII_the World at War holds several wonderful units, that even today are "state of the art" and are included in CCM 3 or the additional upload of this post.

Here you can see some of them: Afrikacorps, DAK, DAK-HMG, Royal Marines, SAS, Japanese HMG, Harrier (in Post War Era 4).

Thank you Civinator! I will try this soon. I have played this scenario 10+ years ago and lost the installer when moving between several PCs, and it still is my favorite WW2 scenario to date.

Out of curiosity, what are the game balance changes you would make?
