Worlds most peaceful countries

Being peaceful in foreign relations and being "internally peaceful" are two different and non-related things. This list makes no sense.

the Global Peace Index (GPI) annually ranks 149 countries based on a range of variables, including corruption, crime rates, military spending and access to primary education.

Most shocking is russia's place.
It is in the bottom 7.
143. Russia
144. Israel
145. Pakistan
146. Sudan
147. Afghanistan
148. Somalia
149. Iraq

LOL x1'0000

WHat is this list?
Sudan has a genocide going on (4 million+ dead), and it is only 3 places below Russia.
Somalia is hardly a country but its peacefulness relative to Russia is only the difference between Canada and Finland. (5 places).

This list is just a joke for Russia and is more evidence of widespread Russophobia around the world. Russia ranked worse then Africans... in your dreams *****
And apparently the peacefullness of Russia has been degrading rapidly in the last 3 years, more rapidly then even Somalia... What world is this list living in?

Oh and Americans, this list is not plesant to you either... Rwanda is 10 places more peaceful then America... I hope you Gringo's are planning on moving down to Rwanda! Its safer there!

i cant believe Japan is number 3... either the editors has very short memories, downright bias, dumb, ignorant or have a corrupted mis-interpration of "peace"

Of course they have short term memories, the list is updated yearly and doesn't take into account history.

Also that's one of my favourite photographs ever taken. Not about what transpired, but it's such brilliant work by the photographer.

Some other countries like Brazil and Uruguay should be there.
Brazil had a murder rate of 25.2 per 100,000 compared to New Zealand's 2 and Japan's 0.44

They aren't just measuring involvement in wars.

Cuba is above the US, Signapore is higher than the UK and France, OMAN in the top THIRTY, and not to mention that China isn't even ON the list, but North Korea is? This list is a bunch of CRAP!

It isn't just based on military activity. The list looks reasonable to me.

He asked the Economist Intelligence Unit, which is affiliated with the Economist news magazine, to look at a range of variables, from levels of homicides per 100,000 people — which drags down America and boosts Denmark — to corruption and access to primary education.

The survey also looks at levels of crime, social unrest and military spending.

And China is on the list. It's number 80.
