Wow... Just wow. Its shocking how much things change.

I sometimes worry that fundamentally, as a poster, I haven't improved, and that all that's really changed is my arsenal.

I got a much-needed reality check early on in the forums, and hopefully I'm at least better-informed for it.

@Dommy, WW1 Britain still isn't a dictatorship ;)

My opinions haven't changed much since I got here. There was a time a back before I joined this forum when I tried to make long interesting coherent posts. Sometimes I put many hours into them. I gradually came to realise that there is no point. People are fundamentally irrational. I mean look at religion. Even in the broadest definition possible, at least two-thirds of people are wrong. Yet we all cling tenaciously to our beliefs even so.

That is one of the prime reasons I believe in the free market. In an world of irrational people, command and control simply cannot work. [Ir]rational self-interest combined with voluntary exchange and free contract are the best we can hope for. Not perfect. Just the best there is.

I have been struggling since I got here to be less angry with people I disagree with, especially those who argue in favour of bureaucrats running our lives. But it's been hard. Quite honestly, I have been far to <snip> over by bureaucrats in my personal life to have any sympathy for those who defend them. They simply make me boil over.

I'm going to have to go with a 5. But I don't recall starting out all that bad in my posts. I still tend to write relatively lengthy posts on average (but not always), and still tend to not check back on the same thread very often to continue the debate. Can't say I recall the quality changing a whole lot. Maybe if I looked my old posts up in some detail I'd think otherwise.

My views are more or less similar to what they were when I joined, with minor exceptions. I'd say I've become a bit more libertarian, but I'm not a libertarian in all the ways a traditional libertarian is, such as allowing free trade in all drugs. Perhaps most relevantly to CFC, I now think Civ4 + all expansions makes for a fun game, whereas when I joined I found Civ4 to be most disappointing. Though I still doubt I'd find Civ4 Vanilla that fun, so maybe I haven't even changed there!

Moderator Action: Cool it, you two. NOW. The next one who posts any more drivel in this silly argument (most of which I deleted) gets infracted.

Well, I've gone from being 14 to 20 since joining this forum... I honestly don't feel like I've changed much, although I think my writing quality has improved... and when I look at some old posts, things that I found to be funny are no longer as subtle as I'd once imagined. :p

Although I don't post that often, I think I have improved in three years, if for no other reason than I know more than I used to.

I've also tried to improve my grammer, although I wouldn't be suprised if there was a grammatical error in this very post.

I do cringe at some of the stuff I've written years ago, but you know what? I would probably cringe at some of the stuff I'm writing now a few years down the line. That's just human nature. It's kind of like with women I've went after in the past. I look back, and think I was crazy for chasing after those women. What was I thinking?

I think it's a matter of perspective. We all think we are smarter today then before, but I'm not sure if that's actually true. It just appears that way.

I first registered on CFC to post a poor joke in OT.

I think my standards have stayed about the same.

Well... let's just say I don't care very much for looking up my Usenet posts from 1992. Even so, I'm glad I was 20 already then (I shudder to think what it'd be like if I'd had net access at, say, 16).

So, on a scale of 1-10 (With 1 being regressing a lot, 10 being progressing a lot, 5 being same), how much has your posting improved (Or otherwise) since you've arrived here.

Not as much as yours.. not nearly as much as yours

I went through an awful period of bullying posting about a year ago, I think I've improved in that respect

i havent posted piss drinking or reverse mermaid threads in quite some time, so my posts definitely have deteriorated.

This makes me sad. :(

I have regressed significantly. I used to post long posts full of links and quotes and such but now I am lazy, impatient and boorish. However it is more fun that way.

This.

Huh, strange, my posts two years ago had a lot of typos in them. Either I was too lazy to spell check, or something was wrong with Firefox...

Certainly my spelling has improved, my grammar is still horrible though :p
