Write Your Own Sequel

I musr say, Valka D'Ur, I watched the first two episodes of The Crow: Stairway to Heaven and I was pleasantly surprised. It must be a Canadian show, because I heard Sarah say "a-boot" like my High School physics teacher used to say.

Spoiler :
I didn't think the story would hold my interest: dead musician comes back to life to set things right is hardly Christian -- i.e. "turn the other cheek -- and the show was a bit violent, but I couldn't stop watching it.

The writing was decent but the story was genuinely fresh (I have not seen the Crow films)) And
Tidbits of exposition made the whole thing just work.
I like the cast -- the actress who plays Sarah later had a scene at Kitty Pryde/ Shadowcat in X2: X-Men United.

Unfotunately, my impatience to watch it means that now I gotta DL the rest of the show -- no small feat considering the series is 8gb total disc space and my tablet can only dl 1 gb at a shot.

Thamnks for the referral.

Woot! :goodjob:

Yes, it's a Canadian show - filmed in Vancouver. You can see some pretty well-known landmarks that have shown up in other shows too, like the Highlander TV series and the early seasons of X-Files.

And the Bridge in the Land of the Dead - those scenes were filmed at Capilano Bridge, although naturally the part where Eric jumps off was obviously done with special effects.

The actors are all just so damned good at what they do in this series - conveying whole unspoken conversations with nothing more than a glance, gesture, or tone of voice. It's been the inspiration of much of my several binders' worth of poetry and fanfic that demanded to be written, sometimes right after I finished watching an episode.

Marc Gomes has been in other crime dramas filmed in Canada, Katie Stuart has appeared in a few episodes of Stargate SG-1 as well as a very good adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time, and Mark Dacascos has hosted Iron Chef and also appeared on Dancing With the Stars a few seasons ago. If you get a chance to see the American version of Island of Dr Moreau, he's got a part in that as well - as one of the genetically modified animals. A lot of the other regulars/semi-regulars were guest stars on Highlander; I'm assuming some of them also appeared on X-Files, as well.

The religious angle of the show is open to interpretation. The original movie was based on a graphic novel, and both were extremely violent. Some fans didn't like the TV series because it was "too light" and it wasn't all about revenge, although that is one of the themes that comes up from time to time. And then there's the RL stuff about The Crow having a curse on it, since Brandon Lee died as a result of an on-set accident (somebody hadn't properly tended to a prop gun and Lee was shot and died later in the hospital; fortunately there was enough footage already done that they could work around his absence and finish the movie). When a stunt man for the series died from a set accident, the "curse" rumors started up again...

Well, I got the whole series, now, 22 episodes. I regretfully had to dump Revolution, but them's the breaks. ;) I'll lose a little sleep, but when I'm done, we can brainstorm.

You made a wise choice. :goodjob: I continue to watch Revolution because I have slim hopes that somewhere along the line there might actually be something that happens that makes sense.

But The Crow: Stairway to Heaven is a far superior show, in every way (in my not in the least bit humble opinion). I always enjoyed wondering if my ideas for various plot turns would match the producers'... they hardly ever did, but that meant the show was never boring.

And I've got a dozen or so ideas as to what would have happened in Season 2 if they'd ever made it...

I've been to Vancouver and some of the coastal rainforest areas where the series was filmed. Someday I'd like to go to Capilano Bridge and see it for myself. It's beyond gorgeous in that part of the world.
