WW1 Complete Infantry pack 1

I've tried that, I put all the art in one folder and then I put the British late infantry nif in the same folder but no luck still.

EDIT: okay I think that the late infantry british (Oromo) doesn't work properly?

every other oromo infantry links but I just can't get the british oromos to show their rifles........

Okay I've come to the conclusion it's the rifle

I had to go into nifskope and remove the british non working rifle and add the now working French Rifle (German)

It shows up fine in sceneviewer. Are you sure you did what seZereth said? The nif doesn't need to be with the textures so long as you have the complete shared folder in your art directory.

yes I had the shared folder in my art directory and I was never able to see the British rifle. I guess it's only me, even though I replaced the British rifle with the French / German rifle, I've noticed that the British rifle is different (according to the textures).

So that's the best I could do.

I know that this was released a while ago, but I think that there's a problem with the machine gunners. The guns all show up as pink in game, and white in NIFskope.

That's because he didn't put the texturing in. You have to get them from the regular game files.

Thanks for the reply. How do I 'put them in'? Is it just a case of moving game .dds files into the shared folder or do I need to attach them in NIFskope as well?

It's just a case of moving the right .dds files in or the shared folder, or in the unit's folder. :yup:

Ah, thank you. For anyone else's reference, the required files are:

machine_gun_64.dds
machine_gun_damaged_states.dds

OK, I too am having problems with the Oromo Warrior skins:

I have all the nifs and dds files from this download in the same folder.
Into that folder I have also copied the machine gun dds files mentioned above.
I have also copied in infantry_128.dds from Civ's original Infantry unit

Problems with the Oromo Warrior:

French and US units showing with pink bodies
British unit's rifle is pink

Does anyone know which textures I am missing?

This is basically the same issue as the weapons. The author did not put the textures in the folders with the models. They put them in a folder called "Shared" (if I remember correctly). Basically you have to figure out which dds files go to which units (you can do this in NifSkope for example by clicking on the model, then you go to the right and look at the texturing property and it will tell you which file to use), if you don't have NifSkope (or an equivalent program) you will just have to guess.

This is one of the most annoying thing people do when making units, there's this and then the opposite (but just as annoying) concept of putting all the units/files together in one folder. I don't know why people do this, but for whatever reason they must think it is a good idea. I ask that, anyone who makes units, please DO NOT package them like this or all together in one folder. Its complicated to figure out for inexperienced modders.

you simply have to put the shared folder in your assets/art folder. thats it. all nifs should look for a texture with the required name first in the unit folder (where the nif is) then in the shared folder....

I have NIFSkope, but I do not have a texturing property on the right-hand side. What am I looking for?

Doesn't work for me.

EDIT: Capo, I think you mean on the left hand side. Found it. It turns out that I have the right textures in the shared folder, but that the NIF's texture property has been set to look for the required file elsewhere. I had to manually set it to the correct texture!

Yeah its a matter of going through and figuring out what goes where. Its just a little annoying.

@ Sez; I know how to do it. It just kind of sucks if you only want to use one particular unit, but for people who don't know how it works it can become annoying. that's all.

I thought I wouldn't make a separate thread for this, but I took the liberty of modifying your Russian stormtroopers. I gave them Fedorov Avtomat assault rifles that were historically manufactured in Russia at WW1 times (many believe them to be the first successful assault rifles in military history), and were quite fit for stormtrooper use - instead of French guns.

Hope you don't mind. :)

Looks great!:goodjob:

Edit: Oh, that's what the Oromo files are for. ... Nevermind lol.

Only thing that seems to be missing is a skin for the paper that the model pulls out. Occasionally the unit will pull something out of his pocket when idle and flip through it. It looks like a map, but it comes out pink.

^

It's the vanilla infantry_128.dds texture.

When you add infantry_128.dds from vanilla, for me anyway the pamphlet goes from pink to non-existant, which is an improvement but it still looks weird when he does it.
