WW1 Real Time or PBEM

No way matey ... you can pencil in a soccer friendly match for 3pm Christmas Day :p

With the British of course...the inferior 'Froggies' will be defeated by then. Besides, they aren't all that good at football. The British will at least be able to put up a fight both on the football field and the battlefield.

Not exactly true either... Although we have gotten further in the last WC and we both got to the quarter finals of Euro 2004. Really the competitions in the four years before them really aren't of much interest. ;)

I don't really know much about real football over there as of now... Just trying to add some life to the thread. All sides used propaganda during the war and my origional post about the war being done by Christmas (Week 51 & 52) is just what I feel the military would say to the German public at this time if it was 1914. I do also know of the "Christmas Truce" which occured in numerous locations along the British/German front. I do not recall of hearing of any truce along the German/French front and doubt that they happened because in most history classes taught in the U. S., the French and Germans are always shown as bitterly hating each other until the end of WW2.

Anyways, I guess I should check out the European soccer scene now that you guys have mentioned it...also, I will always try to end my posts with a brief report from Kaiser Bill and the German High Command.

And no real offense about call the French Froggies...It is just what the Germans called them...or at least what they are called in the book and movie, "All Is Quiet on the Western Front."

-If you prefer that I don't, I won't...

Haha dude it was funny, stop apologizing.

Russian High Command's first response at the declaration of war was to soil itself. Then it looked at troop numbers, and repeated plan A: soil self. Spies dispatched had a lot of bad news about the Germans, but better news about the Austrians and Turks, but since plan A was working, they tried it again. The war room was getting pretty smelly at this point.

Basically, the Russians engaged in some light bombardment and heavy raiding on Austrian territory with Cossacks. Naval movements are top secret, but really I have like two directions I can go (one with each fleet) so its not really a big surprise ;p

Russia wants to wish everyone good luck, and is requesting immediate resupply in the trouser department ;p

If a single foriegn soldier enters Russian territory, he will be slaughtered! Multiples will be a problem, but we can handle one!

File is being sent along to Loulong with best wishes and a few secret communiques.

Anyone for a game of polo through the burning streets of Berlin next Easter? It'd be hott! ;p

Great post... And I the only thing I will apologize for now on is that we can't send any trousers to the Russians... The Russian winter is quite cold to begin with, I can't imagine going through it without trousers!

I did not take it badly ! :-) Just playing along.

More seriously though. Nivelle's army has destroyed Moltke's army in Bruxelles where they had already the reputation of rapists. Nivelles's troops suffered heavy casualties though. One regiment was also destroyed in Bruxelles + one in Calais for no French loss.

So that must mean that you did not take Brussels or any other cities? Is that correct?

Lemberg: 3 cavalry attack 2 cossacks destroying both with one casualty.

Tarnopol: Cossack destroyed, bombardment injures Cossack.

Budapest: Cossack destroyed.

Antivari: Heavy bombardment

Venice: Coastal bombardment

Austrian forces hope to revenge the death of the Archduke by capturing all 'russian' lands in the Balkans.

The Moscow Times

Russian leaders reportedly blew rasberries in the direction of Austria today. For those of you who do not know what a rasberry is, turn towards Austria, squeeze your lips together, and blow through them. The idea is to create a flatulant sound. Other Russian High Commanders were reported to have chanted "Nanana na na na!", also in the direction of Austria. High Command did make an official statement in addition to the rest of their remarks:
"We almost beat those little yellow monkies! ('No we didn't sir.' 'Shut up, you buttmonkey! This is called propaganda!') So there is no doubt in our minds that we will kick the crap out of Austria and steal their trousers to replace our smelly ones! We will send them some lovely Polish Sausage! ('err sir, are you sure you want to say that?' 'I am seriously going to EXECUTE your --- if you don't go ---- yourself and shut up!') Prepare for your doom, you Austrian savages ('actually sir, most people call us the sa-' BLAM!)! Any more questions?"

The Staff at the Times would like to assure High Command and the Tzar of our total and unconditional support; we are sure that he will shame the peoples of Austria and Germany with defeat after defeat.

Following recent internet problems (see ODT Pacific thread) I am way behind schedule ... it will be later today (17th) maybe even tonight before I can play the turn , after which normal service should be resumed.

Sorry for holding things up.

The Austrian high command would like to point out that the Russians should accept that they will never be able to gain territory further westwards. Perhaps Russia should try fighting Japan again?

Japan?? Where??? Run Away!!!! Ahhhh Quick, Grab The Vodka!!!!

;p

Played and sent.

Combat Report :

Germans : Brussels attacked by Haig and French Armies ... 2 German Infantry defeated.

Ottomans : Dede-Agach shelled.
Gaza captured for loss of two Marines.

Aeon221: You provide great commentary in the thread... As much as you want the Austrians' trousers I am going to have to do my best to make sure my ally helps you to further dirty them.

By the way, this means the game has been sent to the Ottomans? And that he currently has the turn?

Neva! We will defeat you with blood, blood, blood, and blood. Maybe some sweat, tears, and toil too, but mostly BLOOD!

Lots and lots. And there are many many many more of us! We have TONS OF BLOOD. We even have a secret plan to utilize it if you come too close! We will all ritualistically commit suicide, causing a massive bloody tidal wave, crushing everything in its path!

FEAR RUSSIA GERMANS! FEAR THE TIDAL WAVE OF BLOOD!

HAHAHAHA
