WW2-Global

Hi, I need your help please.
I buyed an english version of Civ3, PTW and C3C, now I'd like to install your scenario.
What's I need (patches, tools, utilities, basic scenarios, and more...) to make this?
Thanks for your kindness as usual and sorry for my bad english.:goodjob:

Max1973,

As dferrill says, if you own CIV 3 Complete you should not need patches.

After downloading the 134 MB folder and the biq-file its important
to place them in the scenario-folder of Conquests.
Its a very common mistake to place them in the scenario-folder of
CIV 3 instead.

I hope you will like WW2-Global.

Hi!

i have a suggestion for your graphic-update. i´ve played the scenario "WWII Europe: Small, Fast & Beautiful" by paasky and he uses a beautiful graphic when planes are hit by flak. maybe you can use this one instead of the old little rocket flying out of a city.

Vericitas,

I will have that graphic in mind should there be a graphic update.

I've followed this scenario for many months and I finally had the time to download and play it.

Its very cool, I really like the effort you've put into the game realism wise, with all the units being named after their respective divisions etc.

However, I was wandering (perhaps already asked), why is stalingrad so easy to take?

In week 29 1940 I could easily capture stalingrad and I've noticed that there where only 2 fortresses there.

Why?
Since Sevastapol had 4, I was expecting the worst from stalingrad. I've lost 10 bombers on Sevastapol, expecting only 1 or 2 fortesses.

In short, why is the defence of stalingrad so weak? (Or why is the defence of Sevastapol so strong?)

The battle of Stalingrad (speaking only of the first part) was so bloody because of grim resistance from the russian infantry in house-to-house-fighting, but Sevastopol had the strongest Fortifications the germans encountered in the whole War. If i remember correctly the city fell only after weeks of permanent bombardment.

As Stzro said, Sevastopol had very strong fortifications.
At the beginning of the War, Stalingrad had none. In
fact, IIRC no serious attempt to build up a fortified
position was made until after Voronezh fell, and these were outside the city. So the only real "fortifications" in
Stalingrad itself were the ruins themselves.

Ah, thank you guys for the history lesson, I really didn't know these facts about Sevastopol!

However, I still think that the battle for stalingrad should be thougher, since I captured it in 1 week, with only about 2 planes as losses.
However, I wouldn't have any idea how to do this though.

Hakkie,

As Stazro and Serutan says Sevastopol was a strong fortress
September 1939 while Stalingrad had not been fortified.

The changes in version 2.3 (Including: No draft, no mobilization and
increased cost for armour) should make the war in the east much
harder for a player that controls Germany.

I was just wondering if the AI uses the draft does anyone know?

Most definately. Germany is notorious for drafting to fight the French. You will notice that their border cities end up with very low populations due to the draft. The A.I. seems to forgoe production when a city is close to hostile forces.

I'll keep my fingers crossed

All the best!

Baldurslayer,

Thank you.

Yes I will release 2.3 tomorrow: October 31.

It's like my life is on hold until 2.3 is released. It sure will be after :)

imgrumpy,

I will make the last check today to find bugs in version 2.3.

Hopefully this version will be the most important improvement of the scenario
since the huge map was introduced.

thanks was wondering about that with the draft out next version it should effect the AI strategy somewhat i hope it doesnt weaken the AI even more would like to see the modders such as Rocoteh and others come up with ways to make the AI stronger i know your limited because of the game engine but it can be done through unit placement and terrain the city is built on can make a difference i know doing that may not be historiclly accurate but you dont see the tiles a city is built on anyhow and small wonders maybe with the focus being on city defenses that Would help the AI along producing usefull units i know thats alot of work im sure the community could come up with even more ideas to accomplish this better then me.
