X Series

I got Terran Conflict quite a while ago but couldn't get into it since I got single digit FPS with low graphics and a measly 1024x768 resolution... just impossible to play.

Terran Conflict with Albion Prelude. I don't know if it is the easiest necessarily but there is no real point in playing any of the others.

Story?

Oh, and because I bought them.

That's measly? I play my games on that.

I only bought them because X3 and Albion Prelude were $7.50 and the whole series was $10

Just doing Combat missions in the Aargon sector to build up faction rep. Iam already Aargon Hero of the Federation and still dont have access to there military tech. (Trade Mk3)

On the other hand 1.1 Mil to kill some pirates !!!
And it was Hard, I had to spam missiles at three heavy fighter and take them out immediately before mopping up the med and lights. But Damm 1.1 Million for a single mission

EDIT: High on the list is acquire another heavy fighter and equip it out with Jumpdrive
That way these mission arent so suicidal as you have other ships to assist in the fighting. On the other hand since the AI wont hold fire at all, capturing ships is probability is low. Surrendering ships often hold fire then comm you to say they are surrendering before ejecting and abandoning there ship. The AI controlled ships dont accept surrender.

I also captured this Med Fighter a Rajin.

I am going to have to consolidate my fleet of ships into one sector. On of my assault shuttles given to me as part of a story mission is stuck without a jump drive in Aludrin. How the hell did it get there as part of the Terran taskforce then ? it used magic ? Looks like a side mission to build gates is needed but I think I'll just jump a med fighter across and then transfer a jumpdrive over, then jump my more expensive assault shuttle with 10 marines out.

I concur with Maniacal, there isn't really a point to playing the earlier games.

You know, I played this game about 20 hours, I'm still a noob, I'd probably play this game more if it allowed saving at any time, and not just in the stations. It's hard enough as it is to start a game, when you constantly lose half hours of work at a time to getting destroyed or doing some stupid noob mistake...

Buy Salvage insurance. Available from goner temple and other places (check encyclopedia in game to get a list of products and the sectors they are sold in). Once you start getting a few million per mission or have factories set up the cost for salvage insurance is negligable. I bought 10, then 100 due to some weirdness when purchasing, but it really helps in questionable situations.

Uhm to make it clear salvage insurance allows saving at any time.

Anotherthing to look for is is a docking computer; assign a keyboard shortcut (if it doesn 't have one automatically in AP) and you can automatically dock to a station when you are within 5km of the docking point (note that last part for HUGE terran stations and some mines)

 cant be purchased remotely !!!
But I did cap two nova heavy fighters and a bomber (around 10mil is sellable ships right there)

First Xenon K class. Its massive with 3 Xenon Q class escorts
Running through a Xenon sector to map out Telledia space (and stupid steam achivement to visit all sectors) It Smashed my Cutless for 1.9 Mil in damage I accidently saved over my game otherwise would have reloaded. Next I'll have to make use of my jumpdrive to run for it

My Terran Vidar corvette equiped and maxed out.
This thing is insane, it have 10 forward weapons mounts, my only minor grip is its wide spread good for splashing Fighters bad for taking on enemy corvettes as you have to get in really close to land all the shots. But when you do it dose horrendous damage. That Pirate Centaur is torn apart within seconds

I managed to capture a Pirate Vanguard Falcon. The Telledari certainly know how to sex up there space ships.

2.6 Million payout for a single combat mission.

I have nearly 12 Million in credits now. I need another 5-6 Million in credits to buy a Aargon Heavy Centaur, equip it with Ion Weapons which just like starwars disable shields and ship components. I have my marines training up in a military base and have brought boarding torpedoes.

Iam planning on capturing enemy corvettes first and testing out the new Ion cannons. Hopefully build up a small fleet of corvettes for taking on something bigger.

My Ore mine and Silicon mine arent making any money though. I ordered two my transports with TradeMk3 to this sector to auto trade, hopefully my factories will start making me money otherwise I will need to assign a transport specificly to each factory.

Ways to automatically make money (automate trade route and such) are a must. Yet I always kind of failed at them or didn't quite understand. When I was last playing I was still manually remotely ordering ships around buying low selling high in other sectors, but it seemed woefully inefficient.

I coyld have a go explaining that but I'm not the most keen on automated traders (UT in the jargon: universal traders). I know that they can make you a lot of money and some people swear by them but I always enjoyed having factories more.

If you are going to have factories it is always best to start with traders homebased on the factory with mk 1 & 2 trade software, selling and buying stuff. Then, once you know more, supply logistics and similar stuff should be understood.

I bought my Heavy Centuar corvette at last
Went from 16.7 Mil down to 167k and that was after I sold two ships. I accidently bought too my ion disruptors it seems. These things rip through shields like crazy at short range but it seems overkill to fire four at once.
It also carries five marines.

Fitted out with 4x HEPT cannons which Iam tested out its spread
I love the side turrets which act fire 90 degrees and look extremely sexy when they spin, track and fire in combat.

I ended up setting up another auto trader and fitted out two heavy fighters escorts. Iam moving this well away at a very safe sector. A pair of heavy fighters might be able to fight off a pirate raid but the xenon will very easily rip them apart.

Going to have to try out boarding actions very soon.
Very eager to try out capturing corvettes.

Gladiator Heavy Fighter captured !!!
It looks like a Paranid or maybe Aargon fighter never seen one of these before.

MARINES AWAY !
I take out this pirate centuars escorts and then disable its weapons. I found out the hard way that you really need to reduce the hull down to about maybe 50% in order to slow it down for the marines to EVA board.

I loose three marines in the boarding action. two marines never even made it aboard they just floated around.

Its pretty bet up but all the weapons are intact. The shields have been damaged. Not looking forward to pay for the fit out and repair cost.

So how do you "get into" Albion? I've fired it up a few times but seems like there's no hand-holding, action-packed tutorial. Also no quick-play mode to learn the controls.

There's the "flight school" just do the in game tutorial, read the manual and your good to go straight into sandbox mode. X3:AP should have you in a corvette in no time
