Who starts?
I haven't patched yet
Sure I can start us off.I think I finally got ALL my updates and patching done. Microsoft released over 20 something security updates the other day and then I didn't realize that the in-game patch updater didn't work. So I spent 2 hours Wednesday night with my machine doing nothing while I thought it was downloading the patch. Then I spent Thursday night downloading all the security updates because I have my machine set to get them automatically.
Asset Checker is reporting that my Van install isn't correct but everything actually looks good. I've sent a test game and some info to the HOF staff so hopefully it is just another one of those Vista quirks.
It was about to be Killercane's turn so he can grab it over the weekend. With having 4 resources at the start I doubt there will be any copper, iron and/or horses to appear in the bfc. So this start may actually slow us down some if we can't find any with cities number 2 or 3.

So, I'm up to date in all 3 versions.![]()
Our island is LONELY.
I think a second Work Boat is in order. We will need them once we get a few cities settled anyway. The question is whether to follow up the workboat with another or produce a settler/worker. Another workboat to meet people will take us to size 4 for producing settlers.
Attached a proposal with priorities? And what about a dotmap? It looks like there is room for 4-5 cities.
I think we need to include Bronze Working in there somewhere as we need to capture some metals if we can. There is a lot of food on this start and Bronze gives us Slavery, although in other test games the slave revolt event happens too often and can wreak havoc on growth, production and commerce.Tech order? I propose finish pottery and AH, writing, and then alphabet and hope we meet some of the others. I dont see a need for BW until we get math and get full hammer chops. Great Lighthouse might be nice since all our cities will be coastal, so we could fit sailing in soon as well. The merchant from the lighthouse can be used for Guilds and our UU if we think that far down the road.
If ever I mention a thought about going to Vista, please kick me in the head.
I know, but for me it will be an option, I hope I can avoid! It seems that nearly all the requests for help come from vista issues...It came preloaded when I bought my computer last year.
Good luck! Sounds like a time to hunker down. I hear it landed this morning and the winds are around 60mph, not too bad for once. Hope you are spared and downtime.BTW incase you don't hear from me for a few days it means TS Fay knocked out the power. It is currently projected to go right over the top of us. Strength will all depend on where it makes landfall.
That sends it back to ShannonCT.I'm supposed to be up next, I think, but leaving for a week at the beach this Saturday, so I really don't have time to take it. I'd like to swap if possible.
Glad to hear you're back, hope the sunburn isn't too severe! Nice and relaxed for the next challenge?I'm sunburned and back from vacay.
Yes, this one needs some real work. I think we'll await the opening of the game thread before discussing it though!By the by, Gyathaar's variant looks impressively fun and will call for some careful analysis.
