YnAMP - Yet (not) Another Maps Pack

YnAMP - Development thread Civ6

@Cosmic9485
Make sure you have alpha 3, once you start a game, go to advanced setting and set the Giant earth map, verify it's TSL in options, and it should be fine

Downloaded today after the thread moved, so I assume I have alpha 3. Every game I went to load I loaded through advanced and always used the giant earth map, it was always set to TSL. Did not help lol.

Anyway, is there a reason to play CIV 6 with that stupid cartoon / card game graphs? Something really innovating? Can't believe they made such a... disappointment.

actually TSL should be based on both civ and leader data. since we can now have multiple leaders and we can start them with different capitals. consider already that Gorgo and Pericles have different capitals.

simply add a field for LeaderType and compare if leader name matches. but there should also be default location in case leader type doesn't match. that could be first civ location found in DB.

e.g.

Code:
        <Replace>
            <Civilization>CIVILIZATION_GREECE</Civilization>
            <LeaderType>LEADER_GORGO</LeaderType>
            <X>28</X>
            <Y>56</Y>
        </Replace>
       <Replace>
            <Civilization>CIVILIZATION_GREECE</Civilization>
            <LeaderType>LEADER_PERICLES</LeaderType>
            <X>31</X>
            <Y>60</Y>
        </Replace>

I had a problem with the first upload of alpha 3, please check the zip for the following, or you can just download again to be sure
the update doesn't takes the new files...

edit: should be fixed, please confirm (GiantEarth.lua time stamp in the zip should be 2016-10-26 18:31

Giant Earth should have TSL for all civ6 civilizations and city states.

Greatest Earth have them for civ5 civilizations but neither the new ones or city states

Europe has no TSL yet.

after placing the files in the required directory. i did not see anything come up in the aditional content. would this be because the true file path is different? i still have the Mods folder in the civ 6 directory. i've tried looking through the configs to finds anything that spells out this path specification. any idea of whyy its not available to use?

Great Lakes don't show up as lakes in Giant Earth, maybe the maximum lake size changed?

Great work!
I startet as Russia (giant earth) and found Kongo 5 hexes close to me.
Just to inform...

GIANT EARTH
and MP

Hi Gedemon,
thanks for the new version and I would like to ask you and maybe some other modders, if this is possible !

_______________________________________________________________
1.) As BARBARIANS always have made a great problem on that map in CIV V (mid game there has been hundreds of them all over on the islands and poles and games has been unplayable)
and in CIV VI they even make the game unplayable after a short time, when they spawn in already visited parts of the map, as game turns suddenly needs from seconds to minutes !

I am playing now a MP (Solo) without Barbarians and the turns are resolved in seconds ...
so my idea :
As at the beginning Barbarians are fun and they are needed for research, maybe some HUTS of them could be placed at the start of the game WITHOUT RESPAWN OF HUTS,
but still respawning units, as long as they exist !
So we would have the fun of being careful at the start, but after a time they are already worthless !
AND MAYBE THAT would solve the problem with that strange long turn times, when they start to respawn on the map ...
at the moment the only solution is to DEACTIVATE them to be able to play the GIANT EARTH MAP , even when a patch would solve that , it will be a problem again midgame, with once again hundreds of worthless barbarians scattered all around the map on islands and in the Antarktis ! So placing the respawn huts for units at start, without possible respawning for huts, would be a better option

What do you think, could that be possible ?

_______________________________________________________________
2.) MORE CIVS USABLE IN MP GAMES
at the moment you have to choose continental, map size huge to be able to use 12 players ...
but only, after you have add AI 4 times ...
then you have to change back to settings and choose the GIANT EARTH MAP, now you could still use that 12 civs ...
if you choose first the GIANT EARTH MAP, only 8 civs are possible ...

So my question is ? Could the settings for MP also be changed from your mod, that more civs could be used ?
12 is a little bit too few ...

NOW I USE THAT SETTING:
America : USA, Aztecs, Brasil
Africa.....: Egypt, Kongo
Europe ..: England, Spain, Germany, Russia
Asia........: Persia, India, China

As I don't know the map how it looks now,
my questions is,
WHERE ON THE MAP WILL BE TOO MUCH SPACE LEFT ? and therefore which civs should be added ?

Japan would be nice
maybe France, but that could be too much for Europe

WOULD it be possible to change the MP settings, through your mod, that more civs could be used in MP games ?

Thank you for your hard work and wish you a nice day ...

This is amazing! Thank you so much Gedemon!

I've tried it disabling windows defender and the barbarians, with England, France, Germany, Spain and Italy as civilizations. It takes only a couple of seconds per turn. I arrived to the early middle ages. I used the big map but no the bigger. I could put two cities in England, one in Gales, one in Scotland and one in Ireland.

But there's just one thing: resources. They are not in the correct places. There was rice in Germany and tea in England, but we know those come from China and India.

Could you fix that? so we can have weat and cows instead in the old world?

Thank you!

Greates Earth map hasn't yet RESOURCES placed from the settings they are random , like it is in the vanilla civ VI game, which is a joke ...
after some time Gedemon and other will include that, but remember atm there are no tools out there for Civ VI

Thanks FlashXAron, I guess we just need to wait.

But yes something else I remembered. The city states names are not in the correct position. And can it has the same funcionality as in Civ 5 for the city names built in their places to be the real ones? For example my second city was Manchester, but since it was close to Normandie should have been Plymouth and I can't see where to change the name!

Just a small question about World Wonders placement, can it be accurate on the map ?
I mean, there's no marsh at the actual location of the Mont Saint Michel (between Normandy and Britanny), as a french dude I would love it !

gameplay/replayability > graphics any day, hell I still enjoy some 2d pixel games because of the gameplay. Graphics means nothing if the gameplay sucks

Did you activate the Mod ingame? Placing just the folder isn't enough. Go to "additional content" first and click the box. If it's not there I suggest you unpack the archive directly into the mod folder, this worked for me.

I got a giant "bug" :)

Played marathon Giant Earth and the first builder I got could harvest some copper for about 50.000 gold....................... lol... set for life.

Edit: Tried again and now it's 59 gold... weird.

yeah thats the thing. its not available to activate in the "additional content". as per your suggestion, i have done exactly that. still a puzzle. thanks for trying tho. ;)

Greatest earth map runs a bit better for me so i edited the starting locations on the xml.

I've tested it a bit. I didn't add the locations for the CS because I don't think Europe is big enough for them all so it doesn't always load prefect.

anyway feel free to use the xml as you wish. anyone want to add the CS's that would be awesome. I'm going to work on it but it'll take a while cuz i don't know some cities.

Also only in the GIANT MAP ... and you cannot change city names, only units AFTER THEY GAIN a level !

Any settings have to be activated before you start the game, so CHECK them careful and sometimes they reset back to standard !
So have a look and double check, before you start your game

-Giant Earth should have TSL for all civ6 civilizations and city states.
TSL for all CIV VI Civs
TSL for all city states (If they are too close to a civ they are not placed, also game chooses themself, if it places one or not )
Strategic resources could be imported (SEEMS THERE are some missing, so don't use)
Luxuries only random
NO Natural wonders

-Greatest Earth
have them for civ5 civilizations but neither the new ones or city states
TSL only for CIVS which have been also in CIV V
... some messages above, there has a nice guy posted a file which should fix that for CIVS not CS !
NOTHING else is working, so you have to use settings from the vanilla setup tool
NO Natural wonders

-Europe has no TSL yet.
ONLY THE PURE MAP, nothing else ..
NO Natural wonders
