Your Personal Made Game.

I want to make 8-bit games :D Super Mario Bros. 4 with graphics from the third one, and with the same awesome gameplay! Final Fantasy would be the second one.

i think i would probably go along the lines of oblivion, that kinda rpg. except i would make it far longer, add many more side quests, revamp combat completely so that it actually took some skill, and make all the NPCs more unique... individual names, skills, etc.

I'm with you on that. Even though I had a few characters that I put about 50 hours into each, I never completed more than one of the quest lines with any one character. Oblivion is already massive, but it being still bigger couldn't hurt! This is why I was disappointed with Fallout 3, lack of interesting quest lines, totally uninteresting combat, boring and identikit NPCs with no skills, etc.

A Massive FPS about the Eastern Front during WW2. It would include a single player mode for both sides, and the story would center around a platoon on both sides. It would include the atrocities of war committed by both sides, and would include firing squad moments.

The multiplayer version would have a total of 256 players per game, 128 on each side. It would consist of a large battlefield, likely consisting of a small town and countryside, possibly a district in a large city like Berlin, Stalingrad, or Kiev.

There would one overall commander (US Captain rank equivalent) who can call in artillery, set up spawn points, call in supply drops, spot the major objectives, etc. Then, there would 3 subordinate commanders (US Lieutenant rank equivalent) for platoons, who command their units to take the objectives set out by the commander. Finally, there would squads commanded by NCOs, who would be the ones fighting, although officers would be given pistols or weaponry of some sort to defend themselves.

There would be vehicles, but there would a limit of 5 tanks per side. There would also be transport trucks and motorcycles, but that would also be limited.

There will be no "Perks" of any kind, but there would be some sort of unlockable weaponry. Soldiers may advance in rank, up to the equivalent of a US Master Sergeant. As they move up the ranks, they would be given better weaponry. Those who are accurate would be given sniper rifles. Those who suppress enemies with submachine guns would move up to machine guns. Mortars may be assigned.

Officers would need to go through special training to qualify for platoon commander and overall commander.

Objectives on a map may include destroying the enemy headquarters with explosives (Artillery would be limited in range so as not to guarantee a cheap kill), capturing strategic points, sabotaging enemy supplies, killing as many enemies as possible, or escorting a convoy/ambushing one.

I have several ideas for games.

One idea I had would be a city building game with some Civilization elements, but not done in the same way as CivCity: Rome.

One thing I didn't like about the historical city games that I played is that there seems to be no progression in technology. From the beginning you can build everything and the houses can develop to their full if you meet their demands. What I would like to do is introduce some sort of technology tree so that when you research the technologies, new buildings become available and your city can develop into a more advanced society. If you start at the beginning of history the people's houses would merely be wooden huts and as you advance, their homes will change as long as you also supply their needs. One example of how technologies could work is when someone is carrying a resource to a warehouse. In the beginning, the person is merely carrying it, but once you have the certain techs, the person will have a cart, making him faster, and you can build roads, making the route faster, and more like that.

Another related thing I thought of would be when you enter a new age, the overall style of the city will change. When you enter the classical age, your city will have a classical style, in the medieval age a medieval style, and so on.

The centre of the city would be the palace, and as your city grows you can build add ons, and in a new age have it redesigned if you wanted. The palace is where main decisions will be made. Certain buildings can't be built until the city has reached a certain size, like the rewards in the SimCity games.

One thing I didn't like in CivCity: Rome that didn't appear in other city building games is that people come to the city even if you don't have housing. I liked the other games where people only come to the city if you have the housing.

For how the people get their supplies like food I would have a system similar to that where instead of someone from the marketplace visiting the houses, the people from the houses go to the marketplace. The people from the marketplace would go to the granaries and warehouses for their resources, and the warehouses to the main industries and suppliers.

There could be a world level. Once your city has reached a certain size you can build settlers and send them out to found new cities. I think you'll have limited control over these cities otherwise it may end up being too complicated.

I haven't figured out how the military would work. Maybe something involving building certain buildings like an armoury where you can train someone from your city into a unit that you can use. Maybe they can be commanded in a real time strategy sort of way. Maybe there could be a mode where the city map is large enough for several cities and you can play that as a sort of multiplayer skirmish, except instead of just building a base, it's an actual city.

There could be a religion element in the game, but haven't though much on how it could work. I don't want it to be like Immortal Cities, which was quite confusing in trying to please your population's needs to worship certain gods. Maybe there could be competing gods if polytheistic and later other religions that you can build worship sites depending on what religions are practiced, and maybe you can send missionaries out to other cities. I'm not sure what else it could do, maybe another form of control where you can influence other cities.

I would like to have wonders, but I'm not sure how their effects would work. One at least would be a general improvement to the city's aesthetic I guess, but for others I'm not sure.

There are probably some more ideas that I could fit into the game, but I find it hard to explain things or know how things can work.

well along the lines of something like Football Manager; Office Manager

The box would probably be the coolest part

Pick your employees! Customize your daily memo! Declare casual fridays!

Love the concept as long as its not dumbed down into a Sims Expansion pack.

Is it possible to dumb down a Sims Expansion pack?

I'd like a supernatural Third Person Shooter, taking place in Burma and Indochina with a British protagonist and a bunch of other guys (British, Indian and some Chindits from other countries, perhaps) with the enemy being the Japanese Army calling on elements of thier mythology.

Of course, that will never happen.

I was about suggest Call of Cthulhu but your ideas are too weird for that. :)

I suspect it'd need to be subscription based to support a server with enough power to get all those players together. BF2's numbers are more technologically reasonable I believe.

Would be cool, except I'd go for a higher vehicle cap, and borrow strategic mechanics of Company of Heroes.

You might want to check out the game Red Orchestra (on Valve's Steam), by the way, since it's somewhat like what you want.

Subscription based would not help it very well at all. A low vehicle cap is better, in Red Orchestra most players are complete ******s when it comes to tanks, they hop in and will leave and try to shoot you if you try to work as a team and hop into THEIR tank. In the Darkest Hour mod (which has AWFUL maps) one of the tank maps had more tanks at spawn than there were players! So half the tea hopped into their OWN tanks and crashed into each other as they drove out, a few (like, 3 or less) people actually knew how to tank by themselves (sadly, solo-tankers are a major problem), and were getting kills on the enemy solotankers, the rest of the team ran around spawn confused and idiotically.

I disagree on the vehicle cap. I've played in a Joint Operations mod called International Conflict where the goal was simply to get the 64 player limit up to 200 some players (it was a realism mod, and the players actually role-played soldiers and hierarchy). Only 5 vehicles would be ludicrous.

Red Orchestra is a bad example by the way, by virtue of being sim-like. A FPS-shooter with vehicles needs arcade-like controls for the vehicles to be picked up by the rank and file. Red Orchestra is so realistic it begs for everyone in the same vehicle to be in the same phone-chat.

From my International Conflict experience, I still say a FPS needs a dedicated server with a lot of bandwith to get a good play experience.

Actually, the 256 number would be a lot like Zipper Interactive's planned MAG game.

As for the vehicles, it would be somewhat like Call of Duty's handling of them. People could also catch a ride on the tanks until they were needed to fire.

I've checked out Red Orchestra, but I'm not sure if I want to get TOO realistic. Maybe include their damage system, but not that ridiculous right-click to reload bolt.

You can set it to automaticaly reload your rifle after firing I think, even if I am crazy and it doesn't it is incredibly easy to get into the habit of double clicking when firing, that way you fire the shot and tell the game to reset the bolt.

I like the tanks in Red Orchestra, people just need to learn how to use them, and they need a better in-game voicechat.

For example, light and emdium tansk are supposed to use their speed to FLANK and ENCIRCLE heavy tanks. A T34 is NOT supposed to go head to head with a Panzer IV or a Tiger.

I would like an Age of Mythology with myths from all over the world including, say, Japan, the Americas, African myths, Pacific Islanders. Or a game like AOM, but in modern times. M-16 wielding harpies, anyone?

Hmm, kinda like Oblivion, mixed with Civilization, total war, project Ego, and a bunch of other games. You play as a single character, but can lead armies, build things, conquer places, call on the gods, whatever. It'd have a massive world, and anything you would want to do would be capable in the game engine.

jack of all trades....

Dream FPS: Tom Clancy's Call of Deus Duke DoomQuake's Half-Halo Portalshock's Far Crysis Battlefield (T.C.C.D.D.D.Q.H.H.P.F.C.B)

Combining great storytelling, great AI, great setting, great multiplayer, originality, actually using your mind, and tactical thinking.
