That explains it then. I skipped back and forth looking for tooltips so I wasn't paying too much attention to what he was saying. I'll leave that for the morning
Commanders can travel with up to 6 units (base amount is 2 or 3) which makes movement easier but it seems they have to deploy units back into individual hexes for battle
Commanders can also call reinforcements. Eg newly built unit can be sent to reinforce a commander and then that unit travels towards the commander but is not shown on map / doesn’t take a tile or require micromanagement.

He mentions that in civ7, all diplomatic actions cost influence. He feels that this is a bad thing because it will frustrate new players. For example, new players might get frustrated that they can't even do something basic like trade with another civ or denounce another civ because they lack the influence points to do that action. But I think it could be a good thing because it will require players to prioritize how they spend their limited resource. You can spend all your influence points to improve relations with a minor power but then you lack the influence points to do something else you might have wanted to do. Players will have to choose wisely how they spend influence points.
Something in that video that I haven't seen mentioned yet (hard to follow all the threads so) is that scouts have the ability to see one tile further if they don't move in a certain turn.
He also says he looked at the settings and found cross play options !
Just posted about this. I found their discussion very informative and it raised my hopes for the game. This chat was more than the standard "What's in the provided b-roll" as that was in a prior video for each.
This was more "here are neutral observations and opinions concerning what we saw and what we played".

I've added all of these to the gallery, with the tag https://forums.civfanatics.com/tags/civ-vii-preview/ . The exception: The one by Marbozir, which I believe is not based on having played the game personally?
You can in fact add these yourselves as well. My only request is to only add that tag to ones that are based on first-hand experience. But even the ones that are second-hand, like Marbozir's, if they provide insightful analysis that isn't found elsewhere, you can add them to the gallery - although adding a description of why they're insightful would be much appreciated.
Also feel free to add key insights and mechanics pointed out in the videos already added, via the comments section. My hope would be this can be a more highly curated selection of videos, and thus more informative per time spent watching, than what you'd find by just searching YouTube.
Civilization 7 makes some big steps away from civilization 6, introducing dynamic civilizations, three ages, commander-focused combat & much more. In this video I give my full, honest impressions of Civ 7, how the gameplay looks, and how it felt to play civ 7. Then onto the big stuff - leaders, civs, ages, and that 'Humankind factor' to Civilization 7. Finally, I'll move towards the overarching topics like consistency and accuracy in-game, the moves away from micromanagement (and towards upgrade trees), and my overall impressions of the civilization 7 gameplay reveal and thoughts on civ 7.
Thanks again to 2K who flew me out to Baltimore to checkout and play Civilization 7 early.
They also accommodated me for two nights.
Thanks also to Firaxis for their generous time & hospitality at their studio. This video is nit sponsored. Opinions my own.
Civilization 7 is one of Firaxis' most anticipated releases in nearly a decade, and there is a LOT to comb through - including community reactions. I wanted to gather up all of the information about the new game and put it in one, convenient place so that you could get a better understanding of what's new, what's returning, and what some of the issues are that a few older players are voicing.
Not to be a fly in the ointment, and I appreciate those youtubers taking the time to make the videos.
But, Firaxis paid their expenses to travel to Baltimore and experience the game.
I'm a bit concerned whenever someone gives a preview that was paid for by the company making it.
I'm not as super excited for Civ 7, but I'll be watching out for more in depth videos before I buy it (as in, post release). I'd like folks that are more... on neutral ground when it comes to this.
