ZWK PBEM game 2

Axis turn

- Lisbon captured, conquest of the Iberian peninsula nears completion. Soon the full scaled attacks on Gribralter will start.

- Patrols for Russian tanks show nothing. Thanks, secretary-general Stalin, for pulling your forces back to your own territory.

- Fleet on its way to demolish the puny English Capital Ships in the North Sea. My entire eastsea cities have been producing for months.

Well this is about the point where I would like the AI to take over for me, but I guess I have to keep this entertaining.

- Yet another Panzer IV destroyed in Spain, but I'm sure he has more than he can handle.

- Scorched-earth policy begins in Egypt.

- The only good news this turn is that we sank a German transport on the Belgian coast carrying three unknown units.

Besides that, your recon sucks: there was a ship with tanks on its way, but I decided not to go through with this operation

I sure hope that wasn't it, because they wouldn't have lasted one turn on their own.

"Well this is about the point where I would like the AI to take over for me, but I guess I have to keep this entertaining. "

Don't give up just yet! Though the Axis have about the same amount of units that we both have combined, I feel, that it is remotely possible we can win this thing. I wouldn't even mind if you won, just to see if we can beat the Axis as they currently are!

Anyway, Soviet turn:

- Smyrna captured

- Sivas destroyed, Turkish campaign nearing an end with Naval forces closing in on the South.

- Tanks find Axis Bf-109s in Soviet airspace, after telling US to get off their land. Yak-3s are dispached to show Soviet power in the area. Spitfires do recon near Kiev and Smolensk just to keep an eye on things.

* Shore bombardments on Plymouth have succesfully begun.
* Shore bombardments on Tobruk killed all defensive units
* Bf 109 destroys Spitfire near Gribraltar
* Bf 109 destroys Spitfire and unknown unit near Gribraltar and couldn't get back in time to refuel.
* Panzer IV units take places near Gribraltar
* Oporto taken after heavy bombardments and ground attacks
* German fleet enters west part of the Northsea
* Spitfire taken out on Belgian coast

I thought you were about to take Tarente, Darius?

- Capital ship and FW-190D destroyed in the Mediterranean.
- 2 capital ships sunk south of Plymouth.
- In the Mideast, pillaging or roads and dismantling of city systems continues, as the new German naval threat has sealed its fate.
- Sevilla captured in a surprise raid! It will likely be taken back in the next weeks, but the significance is that its recapture will likely result in its destruction, which will be a blow to German logistics on the road to Gibraltar. Also a Panzer IV division at the very gates of Gibraltar was apparently supported by Sevilla, as it suddenly disappeared. This development may have saved the city for a few weeks.

Ok, this one should work.

:lol: It was no surprise. It surprised me you didn't do that sooner. It had no defender for weeks, and I think it was only occupied by a AA gun now. A blow to logistics? Bull, the city is dar from any connection road.

How could I have done it sooner? I had nothing to do it with.

* Paratroopers finish Brighton
* Syracuse emptied
* Yarmouth attacked
* Gribraltar falls after shore bombardments and ground attacks
* Sevilla destroyed (I thought you took Valencia, that explains my reaction)
* Defecting British and Soviet scientists cross over to Berlin
* Port Said emptied after heavy shore bombardments
* Nicosia taken

I really really hate to sound paranoid, but I have to ask for an explanation of this:

According to this, it takes a movement value of 6 for one of the ships to hit Port Said, and a movement value of 7 for the other two that split up and went to the west and east. Even with the snorchel wonder (which the world wonders list does not write as completed) capital ships would only have movement values of 4, so that isn't the answer. Meanwhile, the cargo ship had to move 3 squares to get to the shores of cyprus, but they can only move 2. I'm not making any accusations here, but I do ask for a good explanation.

Also, I don't remember seeing any ships in range of Gibraltar or Syracuse, but since I had no recon there I can't be sure. Could someone neutral (duke, koby, etc.) possibly load the Axis week 60 turn and take a look, since it would be cheating for me to?

Hmmm.

It is definately not right.

I'm guessing/hoping that Willem decided that this gamewas so far gone that he was just messing around, but it was defianetly not done with normal game play.

The stack that is shown on turn 60 only had one capital ship, a transport, and 4 units. Then on turn 62 it became 3 capital ships and the other units. I can tell from the unit codings that the other two ships were over near Greece on turn 60 and then were at Port said on turn 62. Quite a distance by any measure.

I saw no ships near Gibralter before or after turn 60 or 62.

I guess it's up to Willem to tell us what's going on. :confused:

Thanks Duke, I knew I wasn't crazy. :(
