And you can see why they forced it early - no way you could release Civ4 now and have Christmas sales. It is all clear as day...
Downloading now...

For all those having problems with the games update feature![]()
BlueCthulhu said:Hi everyone! I just joined and will eventually join more creative discussions but now I would like toget the patch to work. I had no problem downloading it, but when I go to install it, a message states that 'The setup has detected that no previous version of Civ IV exists' This is nuts because I have been playing version 1.09 for weeks now. My only guess (and I know beans about this kinda stuff... I'm an oil painter/biophysist) is that I bought the game online instead of via the normal disk inserting way. I don't know.
DaviddesJ said:Unfortunately, if you buy the game online, you need a different version of the patch, which is usually delayed in its release several days after the regular patch. It's especially unfortunate that they don't tell people about this when they buy the game online.
It warms my heart to see people helping people purely for the sake of doing so. And that sincere expression of gratitude drove the feeling home. Thank you both!!Lord Foortwenti said:Thank you sooo much for doing this, I couldn't use the ingame updater [...] That was a really nice thing to host the patch on your own space and bandwith and all, HAPPY HOLIDAYS mate.
Arathorn said:I tried to install the patch. I got most of the way through the installation and then it died. I got a 1706 error. I'm trying to attach a picture, but the forum isn't cooperating right now.
When I try to play, the game seems to load OK (I'm careful to use the uncached XML with Shift). I try to start a new game or load a game and get a video error. It tells me to go to some odd file location and change some random line, but the file isn't findable.
The exact message is "Your system has run out of video memory. Please trying reducing your video settings. File:\main\civilzation4.bak\SDKs\Gamebry2_0\CoreLibs\NiDX9RendereNiDXRenderedTextureData.cpp, Line:167". I can't find the file.
Everything worked just fine with 1.09.
I can't even uninstall the patch. I guess I'll have to completely uninstall Civ4, reinstall, and repatch to 1.09. Every patch should have an uninstall option.

Try reinstalling the game and apply the patch.FullyCompletely said:This is ridiculous, I can't see any text on the main screen?
