1.52 Patch Available

Do you typically build cities by mouse click or keyboard shortcut ('b')?
If the latter maybe there is some kb problem causing the keystroke to be kept until the entry field for naming the city comes up.

Awesome!!! that must be it.. indeed I use the b key...

Its only weird that i didn't do it before the patch ....

Haha :) On a previous page I wrote about the same thing (Londonb). But I thought it was a mistyping for London ('n' and 'b' are placed together on a regular keyboard). Then I was told that probably I press 'b' twice. Now I see this is something with game input logics.

BTW, I used 'b' hotkey in pre-1.52 games and I didn't see this problem. Probably this is something with changes to 'SyncInput' behavior (if any) in 1.52.

Yes, it does. Just make sure you don't set 'MemSaver = 1' in .ini file (by default it's 0).

Intelligent searching isn't very obvious thing... even with syntaxically simple languages like English. And it's not 99% primary function of the board. Anyway, there is a 'google' search above for this site, so it might help you. Just note that google index of the site isn't updated instantly with every new post unlike native board search - it might take a day or two.

I was referring to something else.

In the 1.52 readme file, it says:

"Added ability to change to and from fullscreen while in-game"

I have yet to find the hotkey or menu item (from within the game) that will allow me to switch from fullscreen to windowed mode (and vice-versa) while playing the game.

Firaxis, could you please tell us how this is accomplished?

AFAIK there is no hot key for switching modes.
The only way I know you can do this (other than the INI file) is in Options.
To get to options either:
- From the initial startup menu you can go to Advanced, then select Options
- From within the game click the menu button (top right next to the Civilopedia button) and select Options
Within the Options dialog, go to the graphics tab and the next to last checkbox on the right should be "Full-Screen Mode". If you modify this option you will be informed that you must restart the game for that change to take effect.
Hope this is what you were looking for.

Some movie problems are fixed in the next patch (in testing now). The reduced movies will probably not be released until after the next patch, so that people can first try the new patch before replacing their movies.

Thank you for your answer. I'm allready very happy about 1.52 as I can now play the game on my seriously outdated machine (graphic wise). Only have problems with the movies and invisible resources (only shadows), but I can live with that.

Anticipating the new patch though. Any hint of when it will be released :mischief:

Hey, my domestic advisor don't works after installing this patch!!! What's happened???

Hi everyone.
I just downloaded the new update, and when I run the installer, I get the message, "No copy of Civ iv was found."

Any idea why I am receving this error message?

I completely un-installed the entire game, re-installed it, same problem.

Thanks for any help.

Glad that 1.52 has helped. The next patch has even more gameplay fixes, improvements and another major system and video memory reduction. Also the SDK and PitBoss server is on the way - so lots of good stuff to look forward to. We would like to have the patch out within a couple of weeks. Thanks for your patience and feedback.

Maybe my question is answered before: I did not read through all posts.
I am in the middle of a game and now I decide to patch this version.
Does the game, started with the patch 1.07 still work with patch 1.52 or should I start a new game with the new patch?

Did you buy the download version of Civ4, instead of the CD version? In that case, you need a different version of the patch.

Is my question so foolish or so hard to answer ;)

Hmmm... just installed the patch, but now my warriors, archers, settlers and that sort of units appear as 3 warriors, 3 archers, 3 settlers, etc. So every single unit shows up as 3 people, representing one unit
Is this a common problem?

Enable "Single Unit Graphics" in the Graphics tab in the Options menu if you want each unit to be represented by a single graphic. Only use this option if displaying 3 graphics per unit puts a strain on your performance, since it gives you an at-glance representation of the strength of your units.

When you install the patch, your options get reset, so if you selected this before, you have to do it again.

I disagree with the second statement; I use single unit graphics because I like the look better, nothing to do with performance.
