14th of June Patchnotes

You know what, I'm starting to get rather frustrated.

I'm literally locked out of my own game I paid for (crashes before main menu) While I udnerstand Greg is a human being I'm bit disappointed he didn't reply to my e-mail after he asked me (even a simple "sorry, I haven't found a solution" would be enough). The patch has broken the game rather badly, and not a single word is posted about them working on a Hotfix (IF they are even working on one).

Another game bites the dust. A few others had their games internally corrupted by their "new improvements" and "enhancements."

I have never been so active on either this forum or the 2k forum unless something irritates me. I'm not trying to "troll" I hate that word. I'm just putting the point across in my own special way.

Just screwing with you a bit. It's nice to see that people are still passionate about things other than religion and money.

However, calm down a bit. You are making it seem like you want the people who worked on this patch sent to the firing squad. :crazyeye:

It IS just a game. :D

utgotye - if it doesn't work before the expansion and the patch doesn't get patched...

line them up

Is there any identifiable connection between those experiencing difficulties, and their computer specs (e.g. processors)?

(And just to note the obvious in case it helps anyone: make sure you verify the integrity of your game cache if you're experiencing problems)

In that recent G&K video with Dennis Shirk and Ed Beach, I did notice a turn that seemed to take a lot to load (1:15: 8-9 secs, turn 75). But that's just a preview video, no big deal.

But now with all these reports I'm a bit apprehensive... For now I'll just avoid that patch, but I really hope G&K doesn't give us a reason to hate it...

I'm running an AMD CPU and I've seen posts from folks running Intel CPUs including i3, i5 and i7 so it might be something else.

I do know that I inadvertently stopped the download of the patch and when I tried to open the game I received an error message about a missing .dll. I opened Steam, went to Civ V in my library and clicked on the update button. The patch was applied and the game ran fine thereafter.

Yeah if the turns are this slow in G&K all types of hell will be raised.

Yes, I met Persia who had build their capital at least.

I played again without info addict and the resource panel. I think those were causing an issue, because when I started a normal game everything was fine.

my cpu specs are in my signature. I'm able to run every other very quite high demanding game in appearance and resolution and HIGH on every setting but had to lower settings after this patch.

perhaps I will try that

Verify your core game files through Steam, then delete the contents of your moduserdata folder and delete your cache folder. There's a new loading screen after the main intro video, (with horrible photo-shopped stock image pictures that must've taken all of 2 minutes to create) - give this screen an additional 20-30 seconds, and then it should send you to the main menu screen.

Ok. I understand. The Patch for Vanilla actually makes the game unplayable so that when G&K comes out, it will run flawlessly and everyone will buy it en masse!

Slick Firaxis... slick.

Huh, what?
The loading screen backgrounds are random wonder splashes for me.

Passion is a good thing if it's to be positive, not irrationally angry. stethnorun said it best:

Mark, I seem to remember this same basic post from you...almost every time I see your name. Perhaps Civ 5 just isn't for you. You have more problems (that seem to infuriate you to no end) than most people on here, and you have little to no respect for the devs or 2K. All of that is fine, you can hate them with every fiber of your being if you want to. All I'm saying is...maybe move on? I don't think you will ever be happy playing this particular game.

There are those that have no problems with this patch apparently, performance or otherwise. That usually points to a system (like virus checkers), drivers (esp. video) or configuration issue.

What is with everyone and computer specs... If the game ran just fine for people before the patch then it should run just fine after the patch.. I highly doubt the patch would change the specs requirements for the game... Hell my game ran great until the patch download.. Now I cant even play my damn game at all... Like i said in the earlier post.. You set up a game and it loads it up ... It shows the settler and warrior but u cant do anything... Cant click on anything or move this or that.. Just says next turn and u cant even selected that... Very pissed that a game I paid for , I cant even play now...

Frustrating!
Steam auto patched tonight. Started playing GOTM 31, and I find that as soon as a unit gets attacked, it's icon and health bar disappear. Makes the game almost unplayable. WTH? Did they not test this patch?

For the 100th time we've been warned that Old Save games are NOT compatible with the patch... so it's your own fault, don't blame 2k ... just saying.

For the 100th time, it's obvious that not everyone trolls forums every day for every game they have to see if there is an upcoming patch that will break their saves.

A warning would have been some sort of popup on Steam stating - WARNING: Installing this update will likely corrupt any current saves you may have.

So how about you try to be a little less of a jerk wad and stop defending 2K for this poorly executed update.

How about you moderate people for being jerk wads? I'm not being a smartass, posts like the one I referenced are inflamatory, insulting, and of no help in any way what so ever.
