Your tactics did play a part, just i didn't feel a need to copy them verbatem. If you had not submitted them, you would have suffered much larger losses (maybe even the loss of the capital). The ambush plans were ineffective due to the hordlikeness of the enemy.

EDIT- I freaquently state EST after most of the times (eastern standard time) i say a specific time. My apologize if I didn't include it at the one you were looking at.

OOC: Sort of annoyed about the piracy thing...why would merchants go out if there's that high of a chance that they'll get captured--then they wouldn't be acting in their best interests! I was expecting Carthage to attack at some point, but I hoped it would be next turn...

The General of the Roman Forces who unified the southern penisula of Italy for Rome came foward to the King with a proposal.

"As I fought the various tribes in the south, I noticed several areas that our military could improve on and the creation of a new unit that can counter most of the fighting styles of these people. With your permission I would like to gather several hundred men and show you a demonstration of the effectiveness of this unit."

The king nodded and several days later the General was back with two units.

"This unit is the unit that will be representing the fighting styles of the armies we met in the south, mostly outcasts and slaves we captured in the south which included people from all over the Mediternean. This unit over here is the new unit I am demonstrating, I have a name for it but I would like to wait and let you watch for yourself." As the two units fought it out the King watched with interest as the new unit handled the fight like professionals and was impressed when the battle ended. "Well sir, what did you think?"
"I am impressed General, what is your name for this unit?"
"The Roman Legion, sir."
"Sounds good. Get these units created and prepared for any fights that may come." The General nodded and left.




I made a UU, Roman Legion.
Heavy Infantry who excells at hand to hand fighting and has no match. They also can perform the teustido formation which will protect them from arrows.
Their only weakness is against Cavalry, Cavalry moves too fast for the slow moving infantry who will be mowed down by the cavalry.

Not sure if I can use them right now or not, if I cant let me know so I dont put them in my orders until they are able to be built.
