Woo Hoo! CANADA!

Did we play Germany again tonight? Looked kinda the same.:mischief:

Wow!

Bring on the twins!

Forgetful hockey edit:

Not to mention the other FOUR medals we picked up today. Gold, Silver(x2) and Bronze.

Yay for the Canadian hockey team!

Unfortunately I had to work tonight, so I didn't get a chance to watch.

The goal that was't...

I'm watching the US-Switzerland game. It's at the end of the second period. The period ended with the puck right smack on the Swiss goal line! Another 0.1 second and the score would now be 1-0 instead of 0-0!

yeah, I don't think I've ever seen a hockey game with so many goals annulled :ack:

All decisions correct, though, IMHO :)

Thanks Ralph Krüger for 13 good years. :goodjob:

Awesome to see Finland going to the medal games, but what happened to Sweden? :(

Great hockey game for Canada yesterday! (has the Russian coach been fired yet?) And 4 medals on top of that - what a great day!

Gold & silver in the women's 2 person bobsled, silver in the women's short track speedskating relay, and bronze in the women's 5000m race for Clara Hughes - the ONLY athlete ever to win multiple medals in both the summer & winter games (2 for cycling + 4 for speedskating).

In terms of hockey, Slovakia's having a great tournament. They've now beaten the Russians and Sweden. But if Canada brings the same effort and intensity as they did against the Russians, Slovakia's run is over.

I play on an indoor soccer team, right? Three of our players are related to gold medal winner Scott Moir - who lives in a little town that's like.. a 20 minute drive from where I am right now. His partner lives in my home town, awww yeahhhh

Not only that.. My brother in law is his cousin :goodjob:

just found out about this last night. small world!

Another good day for Canada yesterday - gold in women's hockey and bronze for Joannie Roachette's courageous figure skating performance (has to be hard skating just a few days after your mom dies). It's too bad Nissen couldn't hold on in the men's aerials.

And the women's hockey team is now under investigation for celebrating a little too publicly. Apparently it's fine if it all stays in the locker room, but not so good when they take it to the ice.

Today, the big events for Canada will be the men's hockey semi-final against the Slovaks, curling (women's gold medal game), and short track speedskating. Lots going on - I'm glad I have today off. :)

Pretty much. The media has to find something to whine and complain about. I'm surprised there wasn't any of that after Montgomery's walk through Whistler Village.

To be honest, I'd be more worried about any possible damage they could do to the ice than about them celebrating.

:eek::eek:

Finland is getting run out of the rink by the US, and the game is only one period old!

Another refusal to pull the goalie in a timely manner could/will be costly for a coach. First, the Russian coach was reluctant to pull Nabakov, and now the Finnish coach waited too long to pull Kipper (both should have been pulled after the 3rd goal, Nabakov after the 4th goal/1st intermission at the latest).

oh my....what the hell's going on with Finland?

My God. Look at my location and try to guess how I feel right now.

Finland just fell apart today. It didn't look like they came prepared to play.

Now it's just a matter of trying to break Miller's shutout for pride's sake.

It definitely looks like we were unprepared. I don't know how it is possible at Olympic playoffs but first Russia managed to do it and we just did it in an even more awful manner.

The Russian and Finnish coaches need to learn about pulling the goalie - looking for signs that a goalie is not on his game or that the rest of the team needs a wake-up call. These guys get pulled all the time in the NHL and while it will sting to get yanked in an Olympic game, it's usually better for the rest of the team.

And now the US is looking to upset Sven Kramer & the Dutch men's pursuit team in the semi-final at the Oval - and they pulled it off! Two big upsets by American teams in the team pursuit! The men over the Dutch, and the women over the Canadians.
