I'm with you on this one. A week of interleague games a year is more than enough to satisfy me. If it was up to me I'd have every team play one series against their cross city/cross state rivals and be done with it. The only reason anyone ever goes to an interleague game is to see the Yanks or the Sux, and then to see the crosstown rival anyway. I'd honestly have an extra 6 or 7 Dodgers-Giants games than have to endure the Twins or the Royals coming through.

Agreed.. I'd go with two interleague series per year, myself. This way you still get those cross-town or cross-state match-ups like the Yankees and Mets or Rangers and Astros + one random interleague series per year (I enjoy having teams like the Reds or Phillies in town once in a while that I'd normally never see play), while minimizing the screwing up of the more important games against division rivals and wildcard competitors. I don't think they're ever going to eliminate interleague entirely at this point - it's shown itself to be too profitable.

wow rumors on the local espn radio airwaves that the 'stros are sending Hunter Pence packing to the phils for one of their minor league SPs, Cosart is his name and he has been dubbed as one of the 'Baby Aces'. he is still in A ball i think as are the other so called aces.

personally, i would do that trade. may be a sort of a rip off though. i thought houston would ask for dom brown or someone else. pence is solid, more than solid, really. and his right handed bat sure would look nice in that 5 hole right about now. maybe eddie wade can farm another dude out to the phils, get fired this offseason, and then come back to philly as an assistant to raj

This is all Frank McCourt's fault. As soon as the sale gets approved, Wade is going to be fired or at least prevented from doing anything while Crane gives his evaluation (which will lead to a firing).

Wow, Houston would be getting taken to the cleaners on that trade.

no kidding. it was complete speculation. but the phils do have a couple nice young arms in the lower reaches of their system. hard to justify for an all-star caliber player though. but stranger things have happened. philly would love that dude. he looks like a species of marine fowl

How old is Pence? Does Houston have a strong incentive to trade him at all? I hadn't seen his name on many likely-to-be-traded lists.

Cleveland is apparently trying to make a deal, but there isn't much out there in the way of starting pitching or right handed bats. I'd like us to find a way to bring Casey Blake back home though...

pence is like 27 or 28. not sure of their incentive. still ahs arbitration eligible years in front of him. iow, he ain't breakin' any banks for a few years.

Houston has said Pence is one of the untouchables. We have absolutely no incentive to trade him now, he has said he wants to remain in Houston and make his career here (even with how horrible we've been and his contract not matching his production).

As stupid as Wade is and as much as he loves to to help out the Phillies as our GM way more than he ever did as their GM, I don't see it happening.

Is his contract expensive? Sounds like a pure salary dump in anticipation of a sale of the team, like the Marlins a few years back. I agree that otherwise, trading a solid young player with years remaining on his deal is not a commonly made move, to put it politely.

If we wanted a salary dump, Carlos Lee is the first place to start. Wandy is also much more likely to go.

Yes! Blake does not belong on the Dodgers! Plus, their not using him to his full potential. Also, the Tribe does need a bit of experience if their going to make a run.

Camona sucks, so I doubt it. I don't think the Indians are going to have enough to get to the postseason this year, with Sizemore and Choo missing significant time, along with half our pitching staff.

Is Carrasco the real deal? He can't seem to make up his mind on whether he is a good starter or not. What's the word on the street in Cleveland?

We're hoping he's the real deal...I think this season, "good" Carrasco has been worth the odd bout of "bad" Carrasco. He's still pretty young, and I think he was pressing a little with all the injuries/terrible run support. I think him, Talbot and Masterson should be competent Tribe starters for a while.

General question I'm throwing out there for you guys:

Do you think the MVP ought to belong to a contending team? Or is the MVP the best all-round player in the game, regardless of whether or not his team has any real shot of contention?

IMO the mvp should be the best player in the league, but in close races it's alright to give some extra points to those on winning teams. I definitely don't like it when the best player on the best team seems to get too many votes. I would say more or less the same thing for the Cy Young award. Chieng-ming wang finishing second in the Cy Young voting in '06 and Dustin Pedroia winning in 2008 jump to mind.

Ha, my bad, I meant Tomlin. Talbot is rehabbing in Columbus now, isn't he? Maybe Huff or White can take his spot.

If i had a vote, it would be for the best player, regardless of contention status.
