You know what, you're right. I watched every snap of that game, and Alabama's offensive line really didn't look that great. Part of that was the play calling, part of that is the fact that Tech's defensive line is actually really good, but yeah, they did a particularly terrible job run blocking.
Luckily, Tech is totally devoid of any kind of skill position talent outside of Logan Thomas, who was *dreadful*, so this wasn't much of a contest. Without the returns, I imagine playcalling would have changed a little and Alabama would have found a way to score again, but yeah, LSU, Georgia, and probably South Carolina would have beaten them if they played like that.
I thought South Carolina looked very good against what should be a good UNC team (their QB is a lot more mobile than I thought). I was also really impressed with Clemson, especially on defense in the second half, with LSU, with UCLA, WASHINGTON, Michigan, and yeah, even Indiana (I know it was an FCS team, but FCS teams were wreckin' people's weekends!).
Ohio State looked fine, given how many players they were missing. Love the early aggressiveness, LOVE Dontre Wilson (SEC SPEEEED), love Braxton's improved passing. Defensive line needs more practice, but sine SDSU just got BLOWN out by an FCS team, I think they'll be okay for next week.
Cal may not win many games this year, but it looks like they're going to be fun as hell to watch.
