2013 NCAA Football Thread

Ohio State has schedule at least one OOC marquee opponent at the time of the scheduling for almost every season. The fact that Cal and UW both have been terrible but were actually quite good at the time of schedule sucks for us (in terms of respect, not in winning).

We had Texas in 2005 and 2006 and both of those were great games. 2007 UW, 2008-2009 we had USC, 2010-2011 The U and 2012-2013 we had Cal.

Its not our fault that our OOC big games fall flat because they arent Ohio State in terms of clout and consistency.

How do our Ohio State posters feel about Miller vs. Guiton . . ?

Not a question. If Miller is healthy, he ought to get the snaps. They're actually both very similar QBs, but Miller has substantially better arm strength and iis a superior athlete. Guiton can read defenses a little better, especially off the zone read. Take Miller every time.

Guiton is still awesome though.

Kansas has a winning record ! ! !

They also stormed the field after beating 1-3 Louisiana Tech! It must feel good to be a Kansas fan at this point, knowing that the Charlie Weis vs Skip Holtz matchup of former offensive coordinators resulted in some running up of the scoreboard.

Alabama's opponents are completing only 44% of passes thrown more than five yards downfield. So there's that . . .

Meanwhile, more than a quarter of our run plays have gone for no gain or negative yardage. So there's that . . .

We're 33% on third downs offensively, and two thirds of our third down attempts have been 3 and 7 or longer. Happily, we're not any worse at converting the long ones than the short ones, converting about a third in both categories . . .

PAAAWWWWL WHY IS ALABAMA AFRAID OF MICHIGAN STATE IMMA HANG UP AND LISTEN

It does make sense, with the league almost certainly going to a 9 game slate at that point. Also, MSU will probably suck then

Even with a nine game schedule, I think teams will still need one marquee OOC game each year to satisfy the playoff committee. We seem to be favoring those neutral site games over the home and homes though . . .

GT has got to be the least suspenseful team in CFB. You know they can't score in the two minute offense, and they know they can't score in the two minute offense. It's like you're not even watching a competition . . .

ESPN threw up a stat showing we were one of only two undefeated teams who have been outgained this year, but it's 1112 vs. 1119, so that's a little of a meh . . .

I can't believe GT went for it on 4th down at their own 30 yard with over 8 minutes left in the game and 3 timeouts. This is particularly true running inside against one of the best defenses in the country.

Five Fun Facts:

1) NC State currently has the most starting QBs in the NFL right now over any other college:
Phillip Rivers, Mike Glennon and Russell Wilson (yes, I know he transferred to Wisconsin before he went pro, but still counts)

2) Florida State comes in as the only school with 2 in Christian Ponder and EJ Manuel (unless Blaine Gabbert doesn't get the start over Henne)

3) two starting QBs are from FCS schools (Flacco - Delaware and Tony Romo - Eastern Illinois)

4) everyone has a QB from a different school.

5) The ACC and the SEC have 7 starting QBs in the NFL while the Big 10 and the Pac 12 have 5, its notable that there are no Big East starting QBs in the NFL, only BCS AQ conference (even though they no longer are) not to have a starter in the NFL. For you Big 12 fans, you have 4.

Mac... you dog. I was just about to post about the NC State QBs swamping the league :goodjob: .

Glannon is likely to be injured shortly... he isn't the best 'mover' :scan: . Back comes Freeman.

It's not like it is a big secret.

And Freeman is so hated by Schiano that he will likely be traded before Glannon is injured.

Didn't say it was :mischief: .

What team would want to give away a draft choice for Freeman in the last year of his contract? :scan:

This "targeting" nonsense has to rectified quickly. It almost resulted in a South Carolina defensive back being ejected, and it still resulted in a personal foul penalty even after it was reversed by video replay.

While I think it makes sense to finally ban spearing, especially to the head, these calls are having far too many deleterious effects on game play. As the talking heads mentioned, this is one situation which should always be reviewed by video replay. And if it is found to not be warranted, the personal foul penalty should also be overturned.

I had South Carolina on upset alert, but at this point I'd be very surprised if they can't pull this one off. UCF hasn't taken advantage of their opportunities . . .

And there goes my pick to win the Big XII . . .
