2013 NCAA Football Thread

I didn't know who to pull for at the end there. I would have liked to see the state of Alabama win five straight, and I liked the worst-to-first storyline for Auburn, but OTOH, they are Auburn. So now I don't have to listen to all the Auburn fans talk . . .

I'm glad it was a good game too. I think the bowl season overall saw the rest of the country close the gap a bit on the SEC . . .

Oh I woulda loved to see him go down at the one there. Burn more time. Kick a FG if you fail first three times. I don't like giving Winston a chance to win the game with 79 seconds and 2 timeouts.

Long national nightmare over. Can finally start watching college football in earnest again.

SEC gets 2 teams into the playoff next year. Both win their first game.

You know it's gonna happen.

edit; sorta feel bad for that Auburn fan with the 500-to-1 ticket for a BCS championship.... 50,000 grand lost. Shoulda taken everyone's advice and hedged it.

I don't know. Do you think we would have gotten two teams in this year? The selection committee would have had to pass over either Michigan State or Stanford, and conference championships is a stated point of emphasis . . .

MSU woulda been hard to ignore. Without knowing how the Alabama / Oklahoma game would turn out, I'd've not had a problem putting 'Bama in over Stanford.

Well, I woulda had a huge problem with it. But it'd make sense.

I don't know. I think if Alabama made it in it would have been on reputation not performance. But yeah, it's hard to say what I would have thought pre-Sugar. My opinion of Michigan State was a lot lower before the Rose bowl also . . .

EDIT: See what I mean? ESPN's first way too early top 25 for 2014 has us at #2 despite losing both McCarron and Mosley . . .

Attendance for the Rose bowl was greater than the BCS title by about 1,000. A lot of folks had trouble with cancelled flights due to weather . . .

Other than the 2-0 Sunbelt, the SEC and Pac-12 were the only two conferences to finish with winning bowl records, and the top two teams in both of those conferences lost their bowl games . . .

Polls are out! Even in this down year, the SEC still manages three in the top five, four in the top ten . . .

FSU was 2-12 on third down. That's just silly . . .

South Carolina, Alabama and Oregon are the only three teams to finish in the AP top ten the past three years. South Carolina seems out of place there. I question their ranking this year even . . .

Here's another thing I just thought of: Would that be so bad . . ?

Which is worse, an SEC champion or an FSU repeat? Curious as to what the rest of the country thinks . . .

I am sure that all of us here knew right out of the gate last September, that the Sunbelt conference would go undefeated in the Bowl Season.

Spot on.

Well, technically they were 2-0-5, once you count the bowl eligible teams that couldn't find a spot in one of the 35 available bowls . . .

Even then those teams didn't lose. (Well maybe their bowl eligible smiles)

So technically, still undefeated. :mischief:

Good bye Johnny Football! thank you for the memories!

See you at the College Football Hall of Fame ceremony in a few years!

I wouldn't be shocked if Kyle Allen started as a freshman. He's not mobile though, so A&M would need to change a lot of their offense.

Case Keenum did ok in the Sumlin offense. Our WR's are gonna be amazing and the o-line shouldn't drop off too much even without Matthews.
