OK,. the last preseason game is over, so I think it's time to go into regular season mode.

As usual, everyone is invited to post their season projections so that we can see what an idiot you
look like in January
you can show off your prognostication prowess.

Predictions:

AFC East. Patriots. No explanation needed.

AFC North: The Steelers will undoubtedly be good, as usual. But I don't understand the lack of hype built around the Bengals. They just added another top tier wide receiver and running back. Expect them to score a lot more. Whether that will be enough for them to get the division title will be a tough call, since they're up against the Steelers.

AFC South: This division will be better than it's ever been. The Jags will be sorry, as always. Everyone else will be good. The Colts have seriously beefed up their defense, and that is not getting talked about. That said, I expect the Titans to take it.

AFC West: All the teams are good, so it's hard to say. What an incredibly stacked division. I give up.

NFC East: Similar situation to AFC West. When the weakest link (Redskins) are a decent team, what does that say for everyone else? I guess I have to pick one. Eagles.

NFC North: Packers. This is a mostly sorry division. May Aaron Rodgers not get injured.

NFC South: Buccaneers. Winston is starting to live up to his potential and they drafted some weapons like OJ Howard. And this is just my opinion, take it for what it's worth: Repeat champs (or even simply 'great teams') in NFC South almost never happen. I don't see it with the Falcons. The Saints will be better but I don't think that much better. Panthers will be better, but again, not that much better. Out of all these teams, the Bucs were the last to go to a Super Bowl. The roll of the dice favors them.

NFC West: 49ers will be better because of their draft, but not enough to be a serious team. They'll need more time to rebuild. Cardinals I see declining. Carson Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald are both getting past their prime. Even their head coach is expected to retire within the next 5 years. The entire organization will have to start over to some extent. Cardinals had a good draft though. Just not decisively good, which is what they'd need to be contenders to win the division. Rams: They can, potentially, improve a lot. Goff's problem last year (one of them, anyway) was lack of guidance. Their QB coach was terrible. Jeff Fischer is terrible. The entire offense, other than Gurley is terrible. They have a new QB coach who is at legitimate, a new head coach who has previous success in getting QB's to succeed, and this will be Goff's second year- he should be better than the first year because you only get better by playing. All of this said I don't see them winning the division. Not when this current Seahawks roster is around. Rams could be dangerous in the near future though.

edit: tl;dr summary:

AFC East champ: Patriots

AFC North champ: Steelers

AFC South champ: Titans

AFC West champ: ????

wildcard teams: the second team from AFC West + Bengals

NFC East: ???? except not Redskins. A slight nudge to Eagles, if I have to pick one.

NFC North: Packers

NFC South: Bucs

NFC West: Seahawks

wildcard: Giants I'm sure of. The other team could be: Saints? Or Cardinals, or Falcons. Bleh. Even the Rams have some chance. If I absolutely have to go with one I'm going with the Vikings.

It's that classic "Andy Reid experience" that Timsup2nothin was talking about in the other thread.

That Andy Reid experience is looking better and better.

Well, that was unexpected...Alex Smith actually outperforming Tom Brady and the Chiefs coming out with a huge win out of Foxborough of all places...That kid Hunt was spectacular, especially after recovering from that lost fumble on his first ever NFL snap...It was a great game to start the season...

I had the Pats D in my fantasy league, I have never been so happy to end up with -4 points

This is the Alex Smith I've said before is there but is held back by Andy Reid. If he's going to call plays like this the rest of the year then they are going to be really dangerous.

Clearly, Andy Reid has been reading your posts on civfanatics. You should continue giving him more advice.

More seriously, one thing that came to my mind is trading up to get a first round pick QB may motivate Alex Smith even more. He's already lost a job to another QB before and it could happen again. Competition at the QB spot is always healthy.

If Goff (QB of Rams) wanted a confidence booster for his opening game from what happened season, he seems to be getting one.

Seahawks game: Jeremy Lane getting ejected was absurd (I'm not even being biased here).
Our passing game is crap, our run game is good.
Our special teams are unbelievable.

Happy to come away with a solid win even if people are gonna make excuses in Washington. Been way too freaking long since we won there.

Other notes: Houston looks downright terrible, Same with Cinci. Oakland may be legit or the Titan's may just be worse then last year not sure yet.

Oakland is legit. I promise. I didn't watch the Texans or Bengals game but judging by the scoreboard you are correct.

Yep!

Seahawks game: Jeremy Lane getting ejected was absurd (I'm not even being biased here).
Our passing game is crap, our run game is good.
Our special teams are unbelievable.

And they have continued being unfair. The non-call for pass interference on Jimmy Graham was terrible. We would have 7 more points right now.

Even if Luck comes back, it may already be time to break out the butter and jam for Indy this season.

Well yes. Indy is definitely worse this year but also consider the possibility that the Rams have just plain improved. We need to see more games from them to know for sure, but on paper it's feasible. The Rams as an organization have changed a lot in the offseason. Even if we're being generous it will take more than one season for them to become a Super Bowl winning team, obviously. Still, I have a feeling they're legitimately better than last year.

So I'm sad that my prediction of the Saints beating the Vikings clearly isn't going to happen. Question for Light Cleric: What to do you plan on doing when Drew Brees retires? Getting someone else that good is very hard. Then even if you do, the rest of the team still sucks. If you stay with the team after that you've earned my respect as being a loyal fan, I have to admit.
