2019 Christmas Thread

Since I spend so much time on the computer anyway I can just use a USB cable to charge her up for free. As long as she doesn't get high on electricity like B. B. Rodriguez.
I'm basically the Energizer Bunny.
I still want a regular teddy bear in any case.

Do you come with the feature that if I press both ends I see the remaining charge

Is that what we’re calling it

If anyone finds a MaryKB to be out of their price range, I'm pretty sure a nice aimeeandbeatles is far less expensive. Watermelon included. :smug:

Go with Duracell. They have these charging trucks that show up to juice people's phones and hand out batteries when a storm effs everyone's <stuff> up.

Edit: now that I mention it, I hope they're still doing it, lol.

BTW, do you open presents the 25th morning or 24th before going bed?
The 24th.

Whoa I didn't know they made portable jewelry organizers. TIL
I used to make portable jewelry organizers (3-D needlepoint ones that held several pairs of earrings).

I always watch It's a Wonderful Life on the 23rd, my tradition.

Oooh what are everyone's must-watch Christmas movies?

Mine:
  • Love Actually
  • It's a Wonderful Life
  • Home Alone
  • Mrs Santa Claus
  • A Christmas Story
(and no, Die Hard is NOT a Christmas movie!)
All that's necessary is the Charlie Brown Christmas special.

There will be holiday marathons on TV. Considering the new season of Doctor Who starts on New Years Day, I'm guessing the Christmas marathon will be Star Trek, Star Wars, Harry Potter, or some other franchise. One year my PBS station ran the entire Downton Abbey series, all 6 seasons plus Christmas specials. I stayed awake for most of it, but finally conked out after some point past 45 hours.

There is no xmas in which The Ten Commandments is not televised.
That used to be an Easter tradition. ABC would show it on Easter Sunday, and that was one of the few nights each year that I was allowed to watch TV until midnight - I always watched it with my grandmother.

The penguin population has increased, after a gift exchange yesterday. And Maddy was given her very own ornament, with her name on it (breakable, so she's not allowed to play with it).

On Easter we use to have Ben-Hur and King of Kings.
In the last few years we are getting used to have Life of Brian on Paramount.

BTW, the 24th of december we use to had "Olentzero, gabonetako ipuina" (Olentzero Xmas tale) in Basque TV

Merry Christmas, Lieutenant Dan! (and happy new year)

Z-mas tree, clearly.

So he's been bought by Apple? :ack:

One of the biggest class divides is whether December and early January means a period of minimal work winding down towards zero work, or having heaps more work and stress than normal

(I've taken just two days of recreational leave split into four half pay days, to cover me from this Saturday through to Jan 6, a nice two week break to hide from this bloody heat and watch cricket)

I've seen Ben-Hur quite a few times, as well.

Still undecided about wich one pick

They're both lovely, but the second one would probably be more convenient - easier to get around it when it's not attached to a wall.

I feel like putting a sign on my door: "Do not ask me if I've finished my Christmas shopping. Do not ask me what I plan to do for Christmas. The answers are yes, and it depends on what's on the science fiction channel."

Okay, I'm not quite done with the shopping. I'm planning to get some treats for Maddy and for me. But I'm done with shopping for other people. It's bought, wrapped, and opened.

I've just finished making out a grocery shopping list for tomorrow and realized that I can't have egg nog anymore.
