2nd attempt; space armarda

that fighter reminds me of the Gunstar from Last Starfighter, which is IMO one of the coolest Starfighters ever. Love the Death Blossom Attack. :)

I think this will be the final model with texture and civ-specific coloring (blue). What do you think?

Some kind of fighter thing. Its really up to him though. (Even though it has "i wana blow up something" written all over it.) ;)

How about mount the two turrets verticall next to the cockpit, so the are protected by the two "arms", as opposed to exposed on top of the fighter.

Also, I think the cockpit should be a dark blue, and it would be nice if the fighter were given a plate like texture, like on the last star fighter model... it needs some panels for maintenance work and such.

You asked for suggestions. ;)

The only problem with putting them in the arms is they cant have full monuverabilty (i can spell).

I wanted to make the cockpit a darker blue but was afraid it might be close to the civ colors. I guess i can make it darker though.

As for the Texture. Anyone have a picture of futuristic metal plating (looking straigh down on it)? :mischief:

EDIT: You mean kinda like this?

Looks hella cooler. The turrets may not have full range, but the fighter could do loopdy-loops and such. Up to you. With that color armor, It looks sweet, maybe it could be a little cloaking scout or something.

This is a great, easy place to find textures to play with.

I fixed the texture made it smaller and "applied" it to the sides (so its not those line things). I made the cockpit a little darker and showed Attack A charging ;)

Ill see how it looks with the turrets inside the arms and post it here and see which one Smoking Mirror likes. (I could possibly make 2 diffrent variations)

Also there is a lighter version of the same texture.

I too like the both inside and top. Now all i have to do is try and find the 8 camara positions that are used in civ. (Pherhaps the worst part about using a program no civ unit was made from before)

What program do you use? Morpheus' tutorial for OpenFX has a premade setting, but I doubt that's the program you're using (muffins made numerous units... Very good ones, I might -and do- add)...

Yeah, Thats the best version. I realy like it, would make a good stealth gunship.

I'm planning on having two levels of stealth, 1st will be the stealth attack, another great conquests feature (the extra modding features are enough to recomend conquest as a must buy for the civ fan) where you can pick the target you want to attack. You can set which units are subject to stealth attack by each unit, so latter units can be imune to early stealth attackers, representing thier improved sensors also certain city improvements can protect against stealth attacks when flagged. The 2nd level of stealth will be true invisible ships, using cryoarithmatic engines to drop the thermal signature of the ship to exactly the same as background space and traditional anti radar stealth techniques combined with visual camoflage to become totaly undetectable. Only ships with gravitronic engines like those used by a wormhole capable ship can detect 2nd level stealth ships.

Seems like out in space, all you'd really need are some mirrors (except for the thrust); I mean, spotting a mirror covered ship out in space would seem very difficult.

Back view of the Engines. I was thinking for the run animation just have the engines turn "on" and then have it wobble a little as it moves and then have the engines turned off. Then the engines would be off in most of the animations. But it doesnt look that good if the engines are off though :\

Also is the engine color good?

Yeah, of course... And you wouldn't want to be anywhere near any big celestial body (i.e. planet or star) for obvious reasons (wow, two sons!)...

BTW: I ran into a snag while trying to redo the death flic: FLICster gets an illegal operation error when I open the .fxm. I have the right frame count and file format, but it still says it. I'm going to try and remake the .fxm and see if it works then; if not, then I don't know what to do...

EDIT: The re-exporting the .fxm didn't work... I don't get it, it worked just fine last time.

TO vbraun: That looks very good though...
