More Unique Components for Vox Populi

3rd and 4th Unique Components for VP - Official thread 88.10

I downloade Papal States but cannot see 3rd and 4th UC. With Sumer, Israel and Garamantes had no problem, because it was enabled from start.
I have no problem with Papal States 3&4UCs. Have you had this problem with released version (v36) of 3&4UC mod?

Is Israel's Solomon Temple compatible with Woners Expanded from Infixo (there's the same building)?
It is compatible, yes. They do not interact with each other, but if people feel like it breaks immersion there is an option to turn off Solomon's temple in wonders expanded
Vulture description is broken.
Both Israel and Sumer are due for an update (happiness reductions are out of date, onager wagon should move to husbandry, same as chariot).
I want to add a new feature to the Israelite shophet, since it is very lackluster right now

@Hinin what did you mean by faith from alliance? There is faith from cs friends and food from cs alliance, happiness from war and dp. Could you check again sachem and post eventual screens? I had tough afternoon with this uc but finally made it work. Did quick test and it worked. Check please yields values too.

@CppMaster I dont know I use current github version of mucfvp. But only 2 ucs are visible for papal. Looked for some settings but nothing. Could you provide link you used for download? Maybe I used wrong. NEVERMIND. I downloaded 3 versions and though it was rar archive divided by 3 parts. And of course used "first part" which was 1st version. Silly me.

We should wait for new VP patch. I saw beta preview (lots of yield changes). And I'm half way done on lua rework. So, no?

Revised Qila, Intihuatana and AltiCur.

FUNNY SITUATION: If you play Cultural Diversity mod and Greece then Bang! You have Agora from start in your capital. :D

Weird code I found. White Tower. Code says that on spy kill, you check city where the spy is killed for White Tower. So it only works in one city. It should probably check if White Tower is built anywhere on Empire and then add happiness to affected city, right? Description says: "+1 :c5happy: Happiness in the City for every enemy spy killed", so I understand it that way.

Revised another 3 buildings: White Tower, Teutonic Order and Agora. 6 buildings in total wait for verification.

Nilometer, Examination Hall and Tophet revised.
Enhanced help tooltip for Exam Hall (added info that the GP with biggest progress is taken into acount), and Buffalo Pound and Nilometer (added shortened info about what tiles are taken into acount while placing resource. I played Shoshone and this info should be available when reading description to warn player about poor consequences of bad city placement).

9 buildings revised since last check. Any progress in that matter?

I'll do the checks tomorrow morning. Sorry I had some exams these last days, so I was pretty busy.

Exam Hall: And no GP Points added if none have been accumulated? What about if 2 are tied for the highest?

I want to point out the Huns. They should be checked. I don't know if it's Horse or 7 Up Council but every time I see them in a game, I experience in-between turn load slowdowns and then great instability as the number of turns grows. Even if I don't know it's them because no astronomy, checking logs confirms the mystical player 6 that takes more time to process his turn than the rest is Huns. Similar problem was with Germany but I saw Teutonic Order already was checked which is great

I simplified the text on nilometer to say that flax prefers rivers and won't spawn on snow.

I figure it is assumed that flax won't spawn in water, mountain or ice tiles.

@pineappledan: and hills :]
@Hinin: I appreciate any help.
@Enrico Swagolo: I checked hun's Alti Cur 3 days ago. I will do one more recheck tomorrow to be sure that everything possible was done. We plan to do ONLY building's checking for v37, and then unit's luas in v38. v37 will be released after new VP patch which should be soon. I saw big plans and we want to adjust to that changes as well. I can do extra check for Tarkhan if problem is serious.

In my current game medieval Morocco rules. On the other hand Byzantine Empire s*cks. Similar experience with those two?

New beta 9-6 out. Pathfinder changed. Arena and Castle tweaked.

@pineappledan can you handle updating mod to new suff?

Need to update PO as well.

@phantomaxl1207 first one is taken second not. Its very small chance that 2 specialists have the same value. But if you think its bad, I can try to modify this. It would require more calculations unfortunately.

@adan_eslavo, I can’t push new versions, but I can merge the branches.

Re the huns, the alti cur isn’t the problem, it’s the horse archer and Tarkhan Luas. If it really is as bad as you say, we make just have to roll back our horse archer change

I will look into that luas later and see what can be done. If nothing then we will think what to do.
@pineappledan
You probably misunderstood me. I thought of adapting 4uc to few changes from latest VP beta I wrote in previous post (scout, castle etc.). You can do that from github level right? Merging needs to wait few more days. There still few buildings to revise (I do few revisions per day) and some issue came up lately.
  • what do you think about @phantomaxl1207 idea of slightly reworking Exam Hall?

So, after some tests :
- The Qila works well
- The Intihuatana works well
- The White Tower works well
- The Teutonic Order works well
- The Agora works well
- The Nilometer works well

- The Examination works well when there is no tie between GP points. I didn't try with tied points. Did someone do ?
- The AltiCur : only one occurence of the "+6 happiness" event can exist at the same time it seems (when having a successful tribute from a CS, the previous happiness event ends automatically and a new begins) => it's logical from a balance pov, but it isn't indicated in the building description
- The Tophet has a problem related to the xp bonus to bought units : when having a Barrack, the bought unit gain 21 xp instead of 15 ; with an added Armory, this went up to 51 xp instead of 35. Also, since there is now a Freedom tenet allowing bought units to have full xp, we should think about a rework of the UB
- The Sachem's Council : the building is supposed to give +2 faith to the city per allied CS, but that's simply not the case (however, it gives +1 food per friendly CS, as it should be). I have some pictures to prove it. The Reciprocity promotion works well.

Spoiler Pictures (the bonus production comes from the Exam Hall, that has the same effect as the Chancery in that domain) :

@Hinin:
  • I think there's no need to rework Tophet. Ideolog bonus is available very late and Tophet gives bonus right from start. Nevertheless I will look into it. It also needs to disable our code if that ideology tenet is chosen. Do you know its name?
  • AltiCur description needs to be tweaked.
  • I will look into Exam Hall.
  • I will look into Sachem.

Yes. Draft Registration (named Volunteer Army until the 9-6 version).

Do you still have that save? I noticed that thread description is different from hat I can see in code.
  • there's 2 :c5faith: faith per friend and 1 :c5food: food per ally for Sachem (inversed),
  • there's 1 :c5gold: gold per friend and 2 :c5production: production per ally for Exam Hall.
Second ones work for both buildings. You checked faith for Sachem. Can you check gold for Exam Hall?

I don't know the mechanics but maybe the friend part is lost if you get ally? Try to have one CS as firend and then check faith and gold second time.

  • Pathfinder:
    • Affected unit: Holkan - no change needed
  • Arena:
    • Affected building: Pitz court - reset SQL values to match colosseum, instead of using separate values
  • Castle:
    • Affected building: Qila - No change needed
    • Affected building: Barbican - set city damage to +125%

what do you think about @phantomaxl1207 idea of slightly reworking Exam Hall?
I don't think he was asking for a rework, i think he was asking for a clarification for how it works right now.

@phantomax1207
If no GP points have been accrued in a city, and a citizen is born there, then no GP points are awarded to the city. There is already a notification for that.
If 2 GPs are tied for the highest, then GPPs are awarded to BOTH. The lua checks all GPP meters and awards points to any GP meter that has GPPs equal to the max value. If 2 GPs were tied for that max, then two GPs would get the bonus.
Sneaky

Idea for Tophet: just make it a flat +5XP on all purchased units.
  • With no barracks, it's not enough for a promotion.
  • With a barracks, that means you're only losing 3XP, enough for your first promotion
  • On Armory and later, you're missing out on 13XP, so you're going to want to start building your units like normal.
  • If adopting freedom (likely for Carthage, since they can max TRs that way), they get a bonus 5XP on all unit purchases
This would give Carthage an early boost which prioritizes unit purchases in the ultra-early game, and then the bonus would become a detriment as soon as the classical era hit for folks like Rome. Just like in real life!
It would also slightly decrease the amount of computation if it were a static value

Neither the Sachems council nor the exam hall change the bonuses on friend/ally.
The chancery already uses a SELECT values from the chancery table approach.
The Sachems Council has 2 faith per friend and 1 food per ally.
We should just set the Sachems council to be the same yields as the base scrivener's office

Edit: fixed sachem's council - just the same as scrivener's office now
