For 1 civilization?Really?How greedy are they?Unfinished game+overpriced DLC...
I've got an idea! They should release patches for money.9,99% for 10 fixes in a patch:nuke:

Stop whining. 4,99$ isn't expensive for a DLC. It's even on the cheap side when you compare that to most other DLC of other games. Starbucks sell coffee cups that are more expensive...

No, you quit whining. Five bucks IS a lot for one CIV in an unfinished game.

And pointing to another over-priced thing hardly makes an argument.

why would you buy that for 5$? You can download the Mod for babylon civ in game. online free store.

The game is unfinished, but not because it doesn't have enough leaders. I don't mind them charging for more leaders as long as they fix the game with upcoming patches. $5 might be a little too expensive, but it's not that bad.

Hi Mr I want everything for free!

If you don't want Babylon just don't buy it, it's not like Babylon is essential for the game to work. And sorry to break your image that game developers actually make games to make money you know.

It's like eating at a restaurant, then complaining that the soda/beer to the food cost 4,99$, you don't HAVE to buy it but it sure makes the food taste better.

$5 isn't a lot compared to the standard $8-$15 DLC you see on Xbox Live for less content. Is $5 expensive? You're really paying for the leaderhead, UU/UB graphics because there's already a free Babylon civilization in the civilizations section but its barebones. $5 really isn't expensive.

Mongols is free too..... What's the problem here? No one's forcing you to pay for it. If you think its expensive. Don't buy it. Even complain about it if you wish but don't expect much sympathy when you can get Babylon, for free, in the civilization section but without the extra stuff like the leaderhead.

Too many of you expect hours of work on a leaderhead to be free.

If you want to say the game is unfinished. Good for all of you saying it. Just don't buy the DLC.

Don't buy it if it is too much. I think it is fine. The sims 3 charged $3 for a couch on the dlc store that is a real ripoff. A lot comes with a new civ in unit skins unique units and of course the animations for the leader himself.

I see the issue that some have thinking this should have been in the original release and that they just strip the game then sell us the content later but this is the same with all DLC imo. EA is the worst at this. When Sims 3 came out they had a ton of dlc the same friggin day as the release! A month later is fine 3-4 months is fine but the same day means there is no question they stripped the game to sell you the stuff separate.

Nope.

I almost threw up (literally, since I'm sick ;)) when I heard this.
It's same whether it costs 5 dollars or 2 cents.

The point is that after releasing unfinished abysmal game design they actually are asking for their customers to pay more to "enjoy" it more.

That's just sick.

It's like asking extra for adding small crap pile inside turd wrap.

Just wait till Steam reduce the price in 6 months. Usually you have to always check steam every weekend to get weekend specials. I would guess by knowing the history of price reduction in Steam, 5 dollars DLCs usually get chopped down to the price of 2.99 US.

Don't worry, I'm pretty sure it's a ruse. How to convince angry customers that they are AWESOME:
1. DLC civs will cost 2.50
2. Give them first DLC for "FREE!!!" (nothing is free ;)), and charge for the other 5.00.
3. People rabble on ridiculous price of DLC civs
4. Come back to #1, and start selling all future DLC civ's at 2.50
5. People are happy that "now the price's not that bad" and start buying.
6. Profit!

Simple, and I'm sure marketing folks are full of themselves now how smart they are - they haven't done anything really, and yet people are grateful for "free" DLC and "low price" of oncoming DLC's. Well done indeed

I guess that's why nowadays games are made mainly for kids - it's hell of a lot harder to fool adults... ;)

By the way, 5USD for one lousy Civ IS a lot, so when they'll release 20 DLC civs EACH for a fiver you'll still be saying it's not a lot?
To buy a deck in Magic:the Gathering on Steam you pay 0.99 Euro - that price is acceptable, though I still wouldn't buy it.

Which the truly horrible thing. EA milks the Sims series like you wouldn't believe it. Expansions and stuff packs are fine but they charge you for every bloody mundane object on the Exchange at outrageous prices and in "points" which you can't convert back to currency.

Babylon wasn't even Day 1 DLC. It came with the Deluxe Edition.

Is there something in the water supply? They're not asking for you to pay more to enjoy it. News flash. There are three Mongolian civilizations and Babylon available to download FOR FREE. Already. You're paying for the leaderhead, animations, UU/UB graphics, etc. And even then, the Mongol DLC is FREE anyway.

How dare they ask people to pay for completely optional, non-essential DLC that still took work to make.

Has there been an announcement I missed? I restarted Steam and the Civ store page hasn't updated with DLC.

In any case, 5$ is waaaaaaaaaaay too high for me for a singular Civ.

Except this isn't a crappy knockoff. You're paying for the professionally done leaderhead, the animations, the graphics for the UU and UB, etc.

Wow There was a time when you would get all of the civilizations for the $50 retail price of a game. Now they dont even have to invest as much in paper to box the product, and they sell a stripped down game for the same $50.00 then sell the rest of the game $5.00 at a time and people beg to buy more and more. In a way I can't blame them if there are folks willing to go on that ride.

Eh, $5 isn't that much. If you enjoy the game and think it's worth it, just buy it. I'm on the fence with Babylon, and might just wait for a price drop or weekend special or something.

As to the whining about the game being unfinished: yes, it is, but there really isn't any need to bring the complaining about it into every single thread on this board.

I don't know why you just replied with that.

I acknowledge that official DLC will have all of those things you listed, the price is just beyond my personal threshold for a single Civilization (assuming that will be the price).

(I'm not anti-DLC)

Zimbu is right. There hasn't been any announcement on Steam about a Babylon Civ up for sale for 5.00 US. Mods should throw this thread to the trash. It is misleading.

Edit nevermind: already found out it is priced at 5.00 dollars:sad:
