5CC Regent Training Game

Chox: Diplo is easier than space by far. You only need to keep up in tech until the start of the Modern Era and then beat the AI to one build (the UN). With space (my preference for this game) you have to keep up to the end of the MA and build more stuff.

You also have to keep friendly with the AI. But yeah, Diplo and SS are both easy, I'm not sure which will be easier.

Jokeslayer- I moved my settler so it could get The Colossus and have ocean access.
My vote for VC is 1. Conquest (b/c I want to learn how you can build a big enough army w/only 5 cities)
2. 20k
3. Space
But, if no one else wants to try Conquest b/c it's too hard, then I'm up for the other 2 VC's.

Conquest isn't that hard, but Space and Diplo are Easier. I know you said you leaned towards those 3 victory conditions, and we're okay with that, and I would try for Space if we didn't want a challenge. But, if you want Conquest, then okay. We can do that.

I dont mind conquest... it would be fun...with Saphi

You mean Sipahi? ;)

So, the vote for VC is Tad, Choxorn & myself for Conquest, Tassle for Space.
Which start do you vote for a Conquest victory?
Jokeslayer- Do you think that we can do Conquest w/this starts? Which start would you use?

so if we go conquest... im assuming we will kill babylon first? they will be harder because they have bowmen soon... but we can produce 1 turn warriors easily in Instanbul & 2 turn archers

The bowmen won't be too much of a problem. A decent stack of cats, archers and warriors (mostly to be attacked in place of the archers) can take them. The important thing, I think, will be to build and strike quickly.

Conquest? Very well, I like warmongering (I voted for space because I do it too much). If we head for conquest, I think Tad's start is best.

I don't have internet until late tomorrow, so I'd like to be at 2nd or later in the roster.

Indeed, Tad's start is the best and I think we have a general consensus on this.

OK, we're going for Conquest VC w/Tad's turnset.
Who wants to take the next 5 turns?
I can't do it this weekend b/c family's in town.
We should also think about where to send our Settler, that will be ready in 2 turns. I think that we should send him to the river near the gold. Since we know that Babylon is in that direction, we should grab land in that direction. Plus, there might be some iron near the mountain to grab.
And, we should think about Istanbul's next build. Do we build a granary or a settler escort?
What about our next tech? Go for IW or WC?

(This is written from a library computer)

Hawk, can you put me in the last spot on the roster? The Comcast person came today, couldn't get the internet working, so I won't be able to download any saves until next week, at the earliest.

Edit: Never mind, we got internet up without the guy from Comcast.

I'll play the next 5 turns. Got it.

I see 2 other reasonably good city sites: Number 1, 1 tile East of the Wines, to get us Wines, and Number 2, on that Forest tile 1 tile NW and 2 tiles N of Istanbul, as this will allow us to send ships from the Ocean into Lake Istanbul, which may be useful at some point in the game.

However, Hawk's suggestion is closer to Babylon, and I think it is a better idea. I will wait and see if anyone wants to discuss this.

Well, I waited about 24 hours for discussion. It would appear as if the wait was for nothing.

Playing 5 Turns now, although I really think we should play 10 this early in the game...

Then again, maybe I will be doing no such thing:

Tad, you played this in PTW and NOT C3C, right?

I will see if it loads in C3C.

I got the same error message in C3C, although it loaded to 34% instead of 2%.

WTH? It certainly wasn't played in C3C 1.22 Patch, as I get a different error message when trying to load a C3C 1.22 Game.
