WAR IN NORTH AMERICA. The French North American Empire is in turmoil as fighting breaks out across the entire continent. War has erupted between the French and their former New Englander allies. The various conflicts on the continent, while not technically united as a single war, all do fall under the same sort of category. The various American nations fighting the French have proclaimed this to be a Second American Revolution, this time fighting to hold their freedom against the French Empire. That is why the events relating the prosecution of the war are detailed under a special section below.
NEW MEDICAL ADVANCES. Amsterdam, Empire of the Netherlands. Russian and Dutch researches this year came up with new theories on medicine and treatment. They have extended the long disused smallpox vaccine to other diseases and viruses. New treatments have been developed for the influenza, which plagued the world only a few years ago, and has been met with much praise from the global scientific community.

IROQUOIS ELECTIONS. Mohawk, Iroquois. The Iroquois Liberal Party, facing invasion from French and Quebecois military forces, won a major victory in this years elections. Minimal resistance has been felt against this move as the slaves are freed in both Kentucky and Appalachia. Now, with these regions complete, the heartlands of slave labor are all that remain for emancipation.
MORMONS COMPLETE NEW TEMPLE. Bringhamville, Deseret. A long foreseen plan by the Mormon theocracy was completed this year with the construction of the Great Temple Complex. This series of buildings serves not only as a place of worship but as a great center for administration for the government. It attracts Mormons from all over the country to view it.

A rival general to Colombias leader, General Cesar Juarez, attempted to gain power for himself this year, sparking increased turmoil in this South American nation. Several tens of thousands of lives were scarred or lost in the conflict for control, but the success of the government has eliminated a large number of those opposed to the Juarez regime, returning some stability to the country. Another surprising bit of support came from some of the German garrisons throughout the nation, who have mingled with the local populace while stationed here and some chose to support the new regime, providing a fresh officer corps to the fledgling regime. The Italians, despite a declaration of war, still have evacuated their troops from Brazil, and have returned to Italy. A limited German blockade has been installed along the Brazilian coast, and it grows stronger with each passing month. The Brazilian navy, rather than facing the Germans, has instead chosen to defect to the still stable republic of Pernambuco, where a multitude of admirals originally lived.

RIOTS IN ENGLAND. London, England. A group of people who call themselves the Parliamentarists waged a demonstration in front of the former house of Parliament, now closed. These people have demanded a reopening of Parliament and the return of English constitutional monarchy. Military forces unfortunately opened fire upon the crowd, sparking riots and chaos which lasted for nearly two days until reinforcements were called in to break apart local barricades. For now, order has been restored but the demands of the Parrliamentarists remain.
SERBIA JOINS RUSSIAN EMPIRE. Pristina, Serbia. To rousing popular support, the Serbian nation joined the Russian Imperial Protectorate this year. The move was lauded by the Serbian press as a noble effort to stand side by side with our Russian brothers. (+3 Stability for Serbia)
RUSSIANS MOVE TO THE WEST. Warsaw, Russian Empire. Last years annexation of Austria by the German Empire has proven to be unacceptable to the Russian government. Russian military forces have been called up and deployed to the western frontier. These forces have been training and preparing for what some believe to be an upcoming conflict with Germany.

NEW ENGLAND AND CHINESE WARLORD SIGN AGREEMENT. Nanchang, Jiangxi. With the tumultuous Chinese region of the world finally calming down for the various factions, some bright warlords now look to the future. The Jiangxi government has sealed a deal with the Republic of New Englands government. In exchange for increased New Englander economic rights in the territory controlled by the Jiangxi warlord, the North American republic has promised to return control of the three cities held by their empire in one hundred years time.
REBELLION IN THE PHILIPPINES. Manila, Empire of the New England Republic. With the withdrawal of the Filipino garrison to fight in North America, the people of this New Englander colony have risen in open rebellion. The various islands of this chain have been seized by partisan groups, and the various administrators of the empire have been hung or otherwise executed. Only the main city of Manila continues to hold, under the guns of the New Englander Indochinese Squadron and a few token regulars.
EMPEROR RETAINS CONTROL AFTER ATTEMPTED COUP. Zengzhou, Chinese Empire. After last years effective annexation of Peking and most of northern China by the Russian Empire, the emperors de facto recognition of this was opposed by elements of his remaining military. Several officers led a coup against the emperor, only to be brutally crushed in the new capital of Zengzhou. Many were killed in the fighting, though the emperor continues to retain his control over his faltering empire. In response to this coup, the emperor has agreed to end hostilities with the neighboring warlords, with the sole exception of the belligerent Yunnan warlord, who continues hostilities with most of their neighbors. RIOTS IN JAPANESE KOREA. Tokyo, Korean Empire. A Japanese nationalist group, responding to the infringements of the recent Territorial Redevelopment Project, sparked revolts and riots throughout the cities of Korean Japan. Most of these riots were easily suppressed, though fighting continued for nearly a week in Tokyo. The city was badly damaged in the fighting and has served as a rallying point for Japanese nationalist agitators, calling for freedom from Korea and the reestablishment of a Japanese unified nation. CRISIS DECLINES IN CHINA. Jinan, French Empire. Fighting subsided this year in China, as borders stabilize and the Europeans withdraw. The Russian annexation of northern China hit home, with the Forbidden City now under the direct administration of foreigners. The emperor has fled to Zengzhou, where a new capital for administration has been established. Peace has been signed with the Sinkiang, Shanxi, and Jiangxi warlords, as well as Guangxi. Only Yunnan remains a belligerent power, as they find themselves arrayed against the emperor and an allied warlord in Jiangxi. The French have also withdrawn from the theater, leaving Guangxi to administer its own territory, and pledging it to be a show of goodwill towards stability in Asia. It seems that at last a type of peace is coming to the region.

BATTLE FOR THE ST. LAWRENCE. Buffalo, Republic of New England. As one of the first stages for control in the ongoing war between Quebec and its southern neighbors, New England and Canadian Great Lakes ships assaulted and defeated the Quebecois Great Lakes fleet. The battle was rough and Canadian gunners proved nearly useless in comparison to the New Englanders and to a lesser degree, the Quebecois. Nonetheless, through sheer numbers and determination, the New Englander forces smashed and utterly destroyed Quebecs navy. During the battle, the two New England ships present managed to weave their way through Quebecois fire and inflicted most of the damage done in the struggle.

FIGHT FOR CANADA. Toronto, Canada. Abandoning the old doctrines of pitched battle, the war in the north has become one of total fronts and not singular engagements. Furthermore, the use of cavalry with the new weapons has proven disastrous and heavy casualties have been seen for both sides. Hundreds of thousands of brave Quebecois cavalrymen learned that machine guns are devastating, and many have been maimed or killed in fruitless cavalry charges against Canadian trenches. Despite Canadian control of the river, the Quebecois army has managed to halt a drive towards Montreal and even to drive the Canadians back. A stalemate has erupted on the Niagara Peninsula, as the Canadians desperately attempt to defend their industrial heartland. Elsewhere, the Canadians have been driven back by superior Quebecois numbers and artillery, particularly after a foolish cavalry attack on prepared Quebecois positions all along the border. The Canadians inflicted heavy casualties, but most of the countryside has been overrun, while they maintain fortification around the largest cities. The Canadians, in a daring move, attacked and seized the city of Thunder Bay from the Quebecois, securing Quebecs main port on the Great Lakes. They have dug in and easily resisted localized counterattacks.

With the emplacement of these forces, the New Englanders have begun artillery siege of both Montreal and Quebec City, firing shells into both major cities.

THE NATIVES FIGHT BACK. Mohawk, Iroquois. Quebecois military forces met with extensive success in the initial invasion of Iroquois territory. LOUISIANAN WAR FOR INDEPENDENCE. New Orleans, Louisiana. To rousing popular support, the former Dominion of Louisiana proclaimed itself an independent empire from France. Emperor Jean I has been crowned, in a regal ceremony at the Consuls Manor. In response, the French have deployed a large number of troops to respond, from both the north and south of their former possession. The first French force landed south of New Orleans, hoping to seize the city quickly. They met with the heaviest resistance possible, and they were quickly destroyed or forced to surrender by the main Louisianan army. From the north, the French army that had been supporting the Sauk proceeded south, and managed to push the Louisianans back to St. Louis. The nature of the war resembles that of the north, as trenches cross the country in a massive front based war. Advancing has gone more quickly though it has slowed down as the country roads turn to mud in the winter.

FOX RETAKE THEIR NATION. Fox Falls, Fox Republic. The signing of the treaty was believed to have marked the end of conflict between the Fox and Sauk tribes. However, it was stated by the Sauk that they intended to place King Keokuk III as effective head of both countries. This and an attempt to disarm the returning army sparked violence, and the limited Sauk forces were easily detained by the Fox, who disarmed them and deposited them on the border. The Fox republic has been restored and they have reestablished control over their whole nation.
CUBA REBELS. Havana, French Empire. The island of Cuba was sparked into full scale rebellion this year, as guerilla attacks were launched across the whole region. The rebels, using French equipment, have managed to win several victories in the field against the French garrison. Most devastating was an attack upon Havana harbor which sunk a French dreadnought, the FIS Normandy as well as a pair of smaller destroyers. This was confirmed to have been caused by New Englander sea mines, outraging the popular press at home. Cries of Remember the Normandy have been heard across France, raising popular support for the war. Several interior garrisons have also been overwhelmed by the rebellion, who have secured control over most of the countryside.

These people have demanded a reopening of Parliament and the return of English constitutional monarchy. Military forces unfortunately opened fire upon the crowd, sparking riots and chaos which lasted for nearly two days until reinforcements were called in to break apart local barricades. For now, order has been restored but the demands of the Parrliamentarists remain.
SERBIA JOINS RUSSIAN EMPIRE. Pristina, Serbia. To rousing popular support, the Serbian nation joined the Russian Imperial Protectorate this year. The move was lauded by the Serbian press as a noble effort to stand side by side with our Russian brothers. (+3 Stability for Serbia)
RUSSIANS MOVE TO THE WEST. Warsaw, Russian Empire. Last years annexation of Austria by the German Empire has proven to be unacceptable to the Russian government. Russian military forces have been called up and deployed to the western frontier. These forces have been training and preparing for what some believe to be an upcoming conflict with Germany.

With the tumultuous Chinese region of the world finally calming down for the various factions, some bright warlords now look to the future. The Jiangxi government has sealed a deal with the Republic of New Englands government. In exchange for increased New Englander economic rights in the territory controlled by the Jiangxi warlord, the North American republic has promised to return control of the three cities held by their empire in one hundred years time.
REBELLION IN THE PHILIPPINES. Manila, Empire of the New England Republic. With the withdrawal of the Filipino garrison to fight in North America, the people of this New Englander colony have risen in open rebellion. The various islands of this chain have been seized by partisan groups, and the various administrators of the empire have been hung or otherwise executed. Only the main city of Manila continues to hold, under the guns of the New Englander Indochinese Squadron and a few token regulars.
EMPEROR RETAINS CONTROL AFTER ATTEMPTED COUP. Zengzhou, Chinese Empire. After last years effective annexation of Peking and most of northern China by the Russian Empire, the emperors de facto recognition of this was opposed by elements of his remaining military. Several officers led a coup against the emperor, only to be brutally crushed in the new capital of Zengzhou. Many were killed in the fighting, though the emperor continues to retain his control over his faltering empire. In response to this coup, the emperor has agreed to end hostilities with the neighboring warlords, with the sole exception of the belligerent Yunnan warlord, who continues hostilities with most of their neighbors. A Japanese nationalist group, responding to the infringements of the recent Territorial Redevelopment Project, sparked revolts and riots throughout the cities of Korean Japan. Most of these riots were easily suppressed, though fighting continued for nearly a week in Tokyo. The city was badly damaged in the fighting and has served as a rallying point for Japanese nationalist agitators, calling for freedom from Korea and the reestablishment of a Japanese unified nation. CRISIS DECLINES IN CHINA. Jinan, French Empire. Fighting subsided this year in China, as borders stabilize and the Europeans withdraw. The Russian annexation of northern China hit home, with the Forbidden City now under the direct administration of foreigners. The emperor has fled to Zengzhou, where a new capital for administration has been established. Peace has been signed with the Sinkiang, Shanxi, and Jiangxi warlords, as well as Guangxi. Only Yunnan remains a belligerent power, as they find themselves arrayed against the emperor and an allied warlord in Jiangxi. The French have also withdrawn from the theater, leaving Guangxi to administer its own territory, and pledging it to be a show of goodwill towards stability in Asia. It seems that at last a type of peace is coming to the region.

BATTLE FOR THE ST. LAWRENCE. Buffalo, Republic of New England. As one of the first stages for control in the ongoing war between Quebec and its southern neighbors, New England and Canadian Great Lakes ships assaulted and defeated the Quebecois Great Lakes fleet. The battle was rough and Canadian gunners proved nearly useless in comparison to the New Englanders and to a lesser degree, the Quebecois. Nonetheless, through sheer numbers and determination, the New Englander forces smashed and utterly destroyed Quebecs navy. During the battle, the two New England ships present managed to weave their way through Quebecois fire and inflicted most of the damage done in the struggle.

FIGHT FOR CANADA. Toronto, Canada. Abandoning the old doctrines of pitched battle, the war in the north has become one of total fronts and not singular engagements. Furthermore, the use of cavalry with the new weapons has proven disastrous and heavy casualties have been seen for both sides. Hundreds of thousands of brave Quebecois cavalrymen learned that machine guns are devastating, and many have been maimed or killed in fruitless cavalry charges against Canadian trenches. Despite Canadian control of the river, the Quebecois army has managed to halt a drive towards Montreal and even to drive the Canadians back. A stalemate has erupted on the Niagara Peninsula, as the Canadians desperately attempt to defend their industrial heartland. Elsewhere, the Canadians have been driven back by superior Quebecois numbers and artillery, particularly after a foolish cavalry attack on prepared Quebecois positions all along the border. The Canadians inflicted heavy casualties, but most of the countryside has been overrun, while they maintain fortification around the largest cities. The Canadians, in a daring move, attacked and seized the city of Thunder Bay from the Quebecois, securing Quebecs main port on the Great Lakes. They have dug in and easily resisted localized counterattacks.

Over fifty thousand lives were lost to the Atlantic in the ensuing devastation. Following this success at sea, New Englander armies crossed the Quebec border and shattered standing Quebec border forces. They have achieved control across the entirety of the southern bank of the St. Lawrence, though Quebecs artillery has managed to prevent the construction of bridges to cross. With the emplacement of these forces, the New Englanders have begun artillery siege of both Montreal and Quebec City, firing shells into both major cities.

Though these forces are technologically behind Quebec, they have managed to create a solidified front, holding them back. Like the Quebecois in the east, the natives have had extensive problems, fielding cavalry against Quebecs modern machine guns, and suffering heavy casualties. The native superior amounts of artillery has managed to hold the Quebec surge back, as trench warfare proves difficult for fighting in maneuvers.

LOUISIANAN WAR FOR INDEPENDENCE. New Orleans, Louisiana. To rousing popular support, the former Dominion of Louisiana proclaimed itself an independent empire from France. Emperor Jean I has been crowned, in a regal ceremony at the Consuls Manor. In response, the French have deployed a large number of troops to respond, from both the north and south of their former possession. The first French force landed south of New Orleans, hoping to seize the city quickly. They met with the heaviest resistance possible, and they were quickly destroyed or forced to surrender by the main Louisianan army. From the north, the French army that had been supporting the Sauk proceeded south, and managed to push the Louisianans back to St. Louis. The nature of the war resembles that of the north, as trenches cross the country in a massive front based war. Advancing has gone more quickly though it has slowed down as the country roads turn to mud in the winter.

FOX RETAKE THEIR NATION. Fox Falls, Fox Republic. The signing of the treaty was believed to have marked the end of conflict between the Fox and Sauk tribes. However, it was stated by the Sauk that they intended to place King Keokuk III as effective head of both countries. This and an attempt to disarm the returning army sparked violence, and the limited Sauk forces were easily detained by the Fox, who disarmed them and deposited them on the border. The Fox republic has been restored and they have reestablished control over their whole nation.
CUBA REBELS. Havana, French Empire. The island of Cuba was sparked into full scale rebellion this year, as guerilla attacks were launched across the whole region. The rebels, using French equipment, have managed to win several victories in the field against the French garrison. Most devastating was an attack upon Havana harbor which sunk a French dreadnought, the FIS Normandy as well as a pair of smaller destroyers. This was confirmed to have been caused by New Englander sea mines, outraging the popular press at home. Cries of Remember the Normandy have been heard across France, raising popular support for the war. Several interior garrisons have also been overwhelmed by the rebellion, who have secured control over most of the countryside.

I just noted some points in this thread I would like to acknowledge (Most of which are in the beginning of the thread), and that is simply - when people spoke of me destroying Danish-Swedish relations, I giggled.

Though... What's up with building bridges? One of the bridges (Storebælt) was finished in 1998, and it nearly ruined us as well as requiring the uttermost modern technology. I guess you can build them, but I don't know of the actual stability of them. Then again, it could be that Denmark doesn't suck as much as it did OTL.
... Also, with my 4000th post, I would like to silently state that I do not think a recent action by someone in this forum was a good idea. That is at least what I'll be discussing in the newfound NESer alternate boards.
Nope, Spanish. Only thing I did was take the Wikipedia and find names for the diferent political parties, as well as the architect that designs the Brosskaber project.
Brosskaber Project was started in the hopes that it would reduce the level of coal that the ships going in-between the islands would have to use, but EQ informed me (AFTER I finished the project) that it wasn't giving a thing because, apparently, people in Denmark aren't used to travel on train.
I hope that my newest ideas will work.

The Andes mountains; the backbone of South America; have kept our countries distant from one another forcing any trade or travel to be had to be done by boat, when a journey could be a scarce 10 miles away.
I propose that we create railroad passes through the Andes mountains so that our nations could be connected overland as well as through ship routes. And perhaps linking up the Buenos Aires Protectorate into our trade network to bring stability to our continent that has been wracked with war these past years.
