A foreigner's view of FOX News

Said the core target audience.

PS Even better, Franken and Pat Buchanon debating.

Hold the show, people.

Those who think supporting Israel is a "moral issue" are sucking away on the biggest doobie since Scooby himself.

Our support of Israel is exactly the same as our support of Saudi Arabia [or rather "The Saudis" since the rest of the country hates our guts] and Turkey. It's called "a vital interest in the region", aka "Oil for one and one for oil".

If not for the fact that by sticking hands up the asses of these fine nations we can exert a pretty large power in the region, Israel would currently situated about 200 hundred miles west of the Levant coast and 200 meters straight down.

And now, back to your normally scheduled liberal handwringing.

Reread the post. I sited a belief. I did not endorse it. Further anyone that has Al Franken as an prime example of the talent pool is in deep smelly muck.
I saw Franken argue with Bill O'Reilly on C-Span (the best media outlet ever, http://www.booktv.org/feature/index.asp?segid=3630&schedID=196 right here if anyone is inclined to watch). They were both really whiny and *****y towards one another, but Franken was way out of his league. He was way to picky and prissy, compared to the calmer and condescending attitude O'Reilly has that works with those guests.

Maybe he can do another type of show, but the talking heads shows that dominate the ratings are not his forte.

You forget the role public support plays in foreign policy. Most American's genuinaly like Israeli's, as they like the British, and are unlikely to support public policy which is to their detriment (personally, I like the Turks as well).

I've heard every region and country argued as a 'strategic interest' to justify or excuse our involvement there, but sometimes there is a little more to it than a relationship of convience (not with Saudi Arabia, that is complete co-dependance).

How is support Israel helpful to US policy. The rest of the region, Saudi Arabia included. hates Israel. So helping Israel would hurt our rep, wouldnt it?

And if we didn't have the only state in the region allowed to possess nuclear weapons in our pocket, we'd have had a hard time maintaining a presence there for a while. And if the Arab world wasn't all freaked out over Israel, they'd have turned their attention to other things (sinister music) long ago; who wants to know what those things might be?

You got it. - Youre pretty quick for a roman...

No, Woman.

*slap* aaah!

[Note to the MP-uninitiated: the above is pronounced "whoa-man", not "wuh-men" or however you pronounce woman.]

I didn't want to call you a Woman because of the MP-uninitiated in the crowd might get the wong idea.

The article would be excellent if it weren't for the idiotic flag comment

I didnt really think of that. Maybe my questions should have been, "Doesnt supporting Israel have the potential to blow up in our face?"

I like to watch fox news sometimes when im bored...(i mean really bored) i like to laugh at how biased it is, especially when the iraq conflict was on, but other than that i hardly watch it at all. and i think im glad that i dont after some of the things ive seen it say.

Here in the US, the only common foreign news source is BBC usually aired on Public Broadcasting. Our PBS also shows some CBC and dubbed Tass and a German one.

If I watch them I don't get swayed by their bias, how arrogant to assume Turks don't know facts from opinion.
