A More Perfect Union

Either way, as it is the Supreme Court lacks the investigative capacity, something our President surely must of been aware of. Indeed it would be most incompetent of him not to be aware of the very basics of our constitutional law.

It is not the court's responsibility to investigate alleged crimes.
It is the game moderator's responsibility to provide clarification when players express uncertainty about the game rules (see previous post).

Don't worry yourselves too much over my illness; I'm sure it was natural.
Then again, the symptoms were surprisingly immediate and completely unexpected.

Wary,
Senator Rudragun

This speculation of assassination will be settled at the next session of Congress. If Senator Rudragun has had an attempt on his life then it will come to light this weekend and no final word will be known any sooner. At that time, if an attempt was truly made then investigation and speculation will rightfully abound. But until then, this irrelevant bickering is unbecoming of those who would run a country.

The conversation should move to policy. Specifically, Social Policy. As statesmen (and stateswomen, possibly), we should engage in vigorous debate for the best direction for our country.

As I stated before, we should follow the paths of Liberty and Honor. Specifically, we should pursue Liberty (opener), Collective Rule, and Honor (opener) as our first three social initiatives, followed by Citizenship as our fourth. These are easy decisions, as all align with our needs for expansion and further settlement of our continent.

I propose that our President and Congress (currently, only Senator Rudragun) swiftly implement these policies using their respective powers, and they should move on this before the next session of Congress in three days. If you agree, support me in entreating our leaders to do this. If you disagree, be not merely contrarian, but propose an alternative.

The honorable Candidate GreyWithAnE is starting an interesting debate. While I have stated that Tradition would be a good starting Policy, to advance our Culture for initial expansion, I will certainly stand by any reasonable choice that in the long term will lead to World Peace Under American Domination. When the choice will be upon us, is not known. We don't know anything about possible other Nations on the flatness of the Earth. While Honor would protect our borders, would it benefit us in the earliest phase? Good questions indeed.

why don't you use both tradtion and liberty as opening policies.

we should also decide on what victory we are going to puruse

ADMINISTRATIVE NOTE:
In this game, I'm going to ask that everyone update information by creating a new post, instead of going back and revising an old post. If you think that sounds like the opposite of what I asked you to do in COTE, then you are correct. But in this game, where there is a week's worth of discussion between updates and likely to be more and more negotiating as congress grows, I'm trying to keep up with things a little throughout the week, instead of waiting until the close of session for everything.

For my bill, I propose the following:
America shall adopt future social policies in the following order: Liberty, Collective Rule, Citizenship.

Why stop there? Why not list the next ten policies? Why not the next fifty?

No, my dear Senator, this bill will never make it past the Supreme Court. You're trying to cram too much into one bill.

Think: A shall do X.
A and X can be whatever you like.
But not A shall do X, Y and Z.
Nor A, B and C shall do X.

I hope this doesn't apply to unit orders. A seperate bill for each unit is going to be a real pain, unless grouping them for orders is permissable (ie, instead of settler A go to place X, worker B go to place X and musketman C go to place X (three bills) we can go Settler A, worker B and musketman C for settling party Y, settling party Y go to place X (two bills and can be redirected with a single bill instead of three).

Would the following bill be constitutional, but accomplish the same thing as Rudragun's multi-bill?

America shall complete the first tier of Liberty social policies immediately, and before selecting any others.

If so, I suggest to the Senator that he propose this version, even though it's a little different from my own vision for the country.

We'll get around to Honor someday...

Thwarted again by simplicity.

If I may, I would like to propose this bill.
America shall complete the first tier of Liberty social policies immediately, and before selecting any others.

If not, the alternative bill would be:
America shall adopt the social policy Liberty.

I had wanted to do the multi-bill for the reason of accumulated culture which has not been spent.

:goodjob:
Someone is catching on.
Liberty, Collective Rule, Citizenship = 3 things
first tier of liberty tree = 1 thing

Be careful about getting too verbose at the end there, but this is acceptable.
well done.

As the commander of our troops, I will order the 1st Company Pikemen to circle around Krakatoa clockwise, then continue in a large loop around the borders of our Nation northward and northeast, until an obstacle is found.

Since Senator Rudragun's bill will involve a social policy issue, I will issue an executive order:

The Nation's scientists shall begin researching Gunpowder immediately.

least the government is recovering from it's humaliting job in the last session but i would ask one thing from the govenrment( or future govenment ) to decide what victory to go for

we should also decide our foreign policy like when to declare war or when to accpet DOF

Deciding on broad issues at an executive or legislative level at this point cannot be done due to the immediate actions that need our pressing attention. Once we have a few more legislators, more bills can be drafted for legislation and policy issues can be decided.

So, is this everyone who is running?

President:
arya126 (AmFist- Destiny Coalition)
Ceskari (Communist Party)
Representative of Washington:
Jehoshua (America First Party- Destiny Coalition)
TaintedTamt (Communist Party)
Senator of New York:
Steel Knight (Expansionist Party- Destiny Coalition)
GreyWithAnE (Independent- Supported by AmFist)
Representative of New York:
chgrogers (Gentlemen's Party- Destiny Coalition)
Sparthage (AmFist)

I guess I'll run in the spirit of competition and so that there aren't any uncontested positions.
