A New Dawn Beta Builds

re: game speed

Afforess, just a question/possible bug

On snail speed your game speed info xml adds up to 3500 turns which ends up as 5700 in game turns with an end date of 2500 AD.

On the new speed (eternity) the turns add up to 4800 (xml), but also appears in game as 4800, with an end date of 8080AD.

So, other then the game speed info xml, what else effects the turn distribution, end date etc and why do these two game speeds differ in their xml to game turns ratio?

Well, for one it proves that I should never try to do math at 3 am.

Sorry about that mess up with the dates. I recalculated it so it ends up with 4500 turns but ending at ~2250 AD. ;)

I personally am not a fan of really long game speeds, (shock! Horror!) I prefer Epic or Marathon, but dislike snail. But I heard the beginnings of what I new would soon turn into complaints in the "Annoying things about AND thread" (Yes, I do read it and base some decisions off it) about how snail wasn't slow enough, so I cooked up a good name, and added the new XML. You'd have to ask the people on an individual basis for longer games vs shorter ones. I know that units move "faster" relative to time in different gamespeeds, which is usually one of the biggest factors.

Snail with 5700 turns is part of os79 Revised Gamespeeds, Eternity is based on "vanilla" snail with 3000. Maybe os79 can add Eternity to his revised speeds too.

Snail is 3500 turns in Os79's revised game speeds, I just counted. :p

I cannot hear any BGM with Beta5. I started from ancient era first. and played from medivel era second. both of games did not play BGM. To make sure, I also played vanilla and could hear BGM. Is it beta5 bug?

What is BGM? I hear all the building and city sound effects fine in my game...

1. Afforess, thanks for the reply, maths at 3 he he, and i love the longer game, bring on 10000 turn games

2. Stormwind, Ah, there's the difference, if os79 does not, at least i know where to look, much appreciated.

Cheers

How come my city only gains +1 health from the civilization, when I'm playing Hittite ans Suppiluliuma is supposed to give +2 health per city?

I'm using beta5

I count 5700 when using this bit from Modules/os79/RevisedGamespeeds/Civ4Gamespeedinfo.xml
Was a clean RoM2.81 Full with AND Beta5 install.

I have done German translations for Beta5, fortunately there were only 2 files with very little changes! I won´t be able to do any new translations before mid of march, of course I wouldn´t mind if someone else would want to step in and translate future changes or the still missing pedia and strategy entries ;) ...

I seem to have a problem when I start a new AND game. I don't have any icons (see attached screen shot). I guess it's because the CvScreensInterface fails. My info:

RoM 2.81 full + AND standard
Windows 7
Manually cleared cache

Any ideas to what can be wrong?

1. Fish trap's actual bonus is different from written bonus. it is increased three times!

2. when i hover on revolt status bar, there is no revolt status message showing up.

:coughcough:

Well, two or so things:

1. PLE still doesn't give horizontal grouping of unit types.

2. In my latest Revised Gamespeeds, Snail and other Gamespeeds are supposed to end at 2200 CE. What you have there (5700 turns) is old version that ends at 2500 when I thought I had to conquer everyone. Now I know I can use Domination and revise its XML to dominate 100% of land so I can have vassals and win. That meant I changed back to 2200 (default is 2100 but it is not realistic, imo).

I'm working on seeing if I can reduce the turns back to their default number because when I did Revised GameSpeeds first time, it was on AIAutoPlay. Awful mistake as AI is awful at research back then . When I personally played, my research time toward each era is much, much less. So yes it is possible to stay with default number of turns, but with better scaled dates.

Anyway, download my latest OS79 modmod and delete what yiou don't want and overwrite Revised GameSpeeds in AND with what I have because it is the latest beta. Two or three betas to go before final version of Revised GameSpeeds.

Would you say that your latest game speed roughly reflects history? ie No planes in the 1500's. Coupled with this i always play on a giant earth map. I did actualy like the pace of your 5700 turn setup but have not had a chance to observe late game "correctness". Your thoughts.

It's probably a BUG mod thing but I see the following:
Under BUG Mod Options > City Screen > Building Actual Effects the following text looks out of place: Missing MiscHover__BuildingAdditionalDefense
