A New Dawn Beta Builds

2 screen shots so far:

School of scribes as os79 stated is worthless for research early game. -2.58 beakers on top of -0.44 gold and you only get 0.9 culture? :p

Kotoku-in is pink screen.

Epic speed, 7 AI, Noble level.

One thing I noticed...even on Settler level difficulty, I hit industrial era and started having significant cash flow issues. I built tax offices (already had courthouses), and other maintenance reducing buildings, but it seems inflation is killing me.

Does inflation need to scale for game difficulty or speed? (Screenshot attached).

Afforess, looking at the schema files - it looks as though the <bForceOverwrite> tag is no longer available - is this correct?

DudeSDCA, aboout Hunt automation, I use Border Patrol. Better encouragements. I agree Hunt need more aggressive encouragement code.

I play in French and lot of text missing:
- Leaders names
- Buildings name
- Units names

Allso some movies are missing.

I try to change to English, well there is only the English as an option, but the game is in French.
I use a direct shortcut to ROM.AND. should I start the game in vanilla and change to english there? will other languages not be supported in final release ?
Or did I install the mod unproperly ?

I first used the install.exe than copy the "Rise of mankind - a new dawn" directory in the Mod directory. (only the directory not the rom ini)

GOOD GOOD GOOD WORK Afforess !

inflation is a little (lot) crazy i think...

i find myself playing with barter eco. system to avoid it.... or else ill loose 10k a turn, which is sad, since im playing with realistic corps on and cant have any cause the eco. system.

any1 else having trouble building igloos or other degree requiring buildings?

as you can see in the screen, im very close to the north pole and have both ice and thundra near by and still cant build it.

I struggled with cash until I got these civics: Federal, Bureaucracy, Proletariat, Volunteer Army, Free Market, Private, and Free Religion. Then I have cash flow in hundreds. Not thousands like before.

I don't think you should be complaining, but rather figuring out new strategies of managing your money. Yeah, there are some stuff that need to be cooled down but mostly I think it is just players habituated to easy cash flow from overpowered versions of old days :d.

OS79:
Thanks for the comments on Hunt vs border patrol. Very helpful.

Re: Gold: Generally agree with your comments. I think we've been quite zealous in trying to reduce the amount of excess gold in the game...and it worked! The concern I have is that I'm having this much problem with gold management on settler-level difficulty (for the sake of testing), how bad is this going to get with higher difficulty levels?

Re: Inflation -- I'm going to continue to test, but I thought inflation from gold rushing only was supposed to last for a few turns (the thread said 8 on Epic speed; scaled with game speed). I'll report back if it doesn't look like the inflation isn't dropping back down as it should.

School as the upgrade for all monasteries don't work well. It kills of all the static base commerce from the monasteries and therefor reduces science for example. And the hover info says it increases science which would be correct if the static commerce would be conserved.

Furthermore Neuschwanstein and another wonder, sorry forgot which one, have no video or picture.

But still, great mod, keep up the work.

+1

Next REV I'll use Noble.

But you can see my concern that if I'm having trouble on settler that it will likely scale (and get worse with higher difficulty)?

I play with Noble as starting difficulty and Flexible Difficulty on. I set Prince as the maximum difficulty I can go up to. I'm doing great as you may had noticed from my earlier screenshots. I struggled at first with no horse but eventually I conquered my way through Ethiopia's cities until I got to the horse holding city. After that, the game now is as good as won. The question for me now is WHEN. I'm hoping I will win Mercy Rule in early Transhuman era, instead of early Modern era.

Nice. Just to clarify, I'm also kicking butt with owning 30-40% of all land (on Giant map), and in first place with my score 3-4x over the next guy.

So definitely not struggling in that capacity. Just surprised at how extensive the gold slowdown was (it was like hitting a wall). It may be in part due to inflation. Also, with the new maintenance factors, my maintenance costs are obviously much higher than anyone else (being the biggest empire).

I have Village Hall at 5% maintenance, town hall at 15% and city council at 25%. My arguments for these personal mods is that the courthouse is another government that balance admin building line. The Courthouse reduce maintenance cost by 25% so the City Council should be balanced out by Courthouse. Then all other buildings maintenance costs will be paid for by gold generating buildings.

Bug: when capturing a city, I wasn't given the option to raise or capture (no dialogue box) and I couldn't select any other units, end turn, or do anything.
