I thought Community Patch has become such a strong brand that any change in naming would do more harm to it than benefit. Vox Populi, to me, doesn't evoke anything either related to modding, nor to Civilization, and the worst part - again, to me only - is that that phrase is somewhat overused and tired. It's just empty, whilst the Community Patch (although it has the unfortunate abbrevation of CP, albeit CPP is much nicer - like C Plus Plus to begin with) carries a lot of weight these days. Just needs a fancy logo and you can put it on cereal boxes.
I'm all for Scrubwrecker though.

Except the "community patch" is probably going to remain the same, we're talking about renaming the entire package. Especially for multiplayer purposes.
As for being a strong brand, have you seen streamers/youtubers playing this mod? Most of them that I have seen have trouble saying/remembering it. It's not really a memorable name.

I have twice said that this is how it all seems "to me". 
If this is about the whole package then I have no complaints - I got confused about all this enough to assume that the base Patch will use a swanky new name as well. That would confuse me even more, as I've memorised the endeavour as the Community Patch and will likely continue to use that name instead of any new one. Same thing happened with JFD's mods - I once called CiD as CCC. And RtP is still Piety to me.
Although it doesn't change my view that Vox Populi is an empty phrase. Quite frankly I've no better idea though. Maybe try Greek?

Indeed. That's why, if nothing 'fancy' suits my fancy, I'm at least going to tweak the names to CPOP and CO (Community Patch and Overhaul Project and Community Overhaul). I see lots of confusion on the CP v. the CBP, and that's my fault for using the word 'patch' in the CBP to begin with. Not sexy or flashy, but at least functionally more clear than the current nomenclature.

CPOP definitely has a has good ring to it, I like it. Also the buzzword 'pop' strikes home when it comes to Civ players. CO remains simple and dodges the unfortunate CP acronym. Both good choices, at least it resonates with my brain well.

Chinese pop probably has the stronger claim to that term, since the K and J precedents are also in East Asia.

I agree, and it is probably the direction we'll be heading. Also avoids the 'rebranding' effort commensurate with a more substantial name change. New Coke v. Coke Classic, this is not.
I think Canadian pop is just called 'BieberFever.'

Well on some parts of the internet CP stands for pornography starring children.
It can also stand for Cerebral palsy along with like 40 other things.

CPOP is for the whole package? If that is the case, I'm completely against it. "Community Patch and Overhaul Project" doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, and piles upon the problem I've pointed previously of people not even remembering the name.

He definately specified an "and", plus if we're gonna rename the CBP specifically, "Community Overhaul" is much simpler.
Let's be clear. Right now, we have:
CPP - the full project (Community Patch Project)
CP - Community Patch - can be used separately
CBP - Community Balance Patch - can be used with just CP
C4DF - Putmalk's Civ 4 Diplomacy Features - can be used with just CP
CSD- City-State Diplomacy Mod - can be used with just CP
More Luxuries - unchanged from vanilla More Luxuries, but included because...
Compatibility Files (EUI/No-EUI) - the combined lua and balance changes for the full CPP
After the change, we will have:
CPOP - the full project (Community Patch and Overhaul Project)
CP - Community Patch - can be used separately
CO - Community Overhaul - can be used with just CP
C4DF - Putmalk's Civ 4 Diplomacy Features - can be used with just CP
