That'd certainly be the easiest, but it looks like a few of them were at least somewhat active. Maybe we should actually bring this up with prominent users in them first.

Make a subforum "inactive forums", put all these forums in it.
Will only appear as one forum from AoG, but will still contain the old forum structure.

That would work for the Sid Meier's/Firaxis/MicroProse ones if they really must have their own subboard still, but the others still have such little activity that even a single thread or two (and whatever other ones people wanted to make about the games, if any) would more than cover all of the activity and All Other games could really use even that little activity. Especially from the Total War and Galactic Civilization games which are the only two of those subs where the games are still being made.

Having the games be in their own subforums does reduce the traffic to them a bit, especially for the Total War sub what is 'above' AoG.

There is no harm in making a thread in each one asking a few things like:
- Is anyone still using this subforum and if so is it for a reason that absolutely requires its own board instead of moving the discussion to All Other Games?

As long as we don't end up waiting months or even more than a couple of weeks for a reply.

If it takes more than a week then the answer of its use is being provided.

So, yeah, five of the forums still have not had a single post in them this year and three of the others haven't had a post in almost two weeks with either none or only one post before that one in January. Spore has had two replies to Leif's thread asking if anyone still uses it, both of which said no and that they think it should be deleted.

It is years past time to please fix reorganize AoG by archiving the unused forums and merging the only really active thread into AoG (Gal Civ 3 posts) where they could use the exposure and activity.

You all think we should archive the Spore Sub Forum, or transfer the threads to all other games and delete the sub forum?

Transfer and Delete would probably be best, there's not really much there worth archiving. Doing the same to a lot of the other AoG subforums would probably also be a good idea- I can sort of get the reason behind the original creation of the ones dealing with other Sid Meier games, but none of them are remotely active enough to really justify their own subforums, though there might be enough that the suggestion to merge them all into an "Other Sid Meier Games"-type subforum could work. Similarly, Call to Power and GalCiv have connections to the Civilization series, but there's pretty much no activity in them. I'm not really sure what to do with Rise of Nations, Master of Orion, and Chess. As to the main Other Games subforums, most of those are still active and healthy, but the Total War subforum is about as active as most of the subforums of All Other Games these days.

It would probably be best to just post in all of the subforums of AoG we're talking about and asking there if anyone is still posting there and if there should be some merging/deleting going on.

Maybe something like grouping Colinization, Pirates and Railroads into )ther Sid Mier games, and Grouping MoO, Ctp, Cal Civ, and Rise of nations into Other Civ Related games?

I'm not sure if all of those are actually directly Civilization Related, but maybe.

Again, I know barely anything about these forums, you should post in them asking the people there what they think, like you posted in Spore.

Yeah, I am just trying to get a structure on which to hang a discussion. Latter i will post a discussion thread in all other games linked from an announcement or a sticky in each sub fora.

A "Other Sid Meier's Games" subforum would be fine, it would give a place to put the two or three threads on Sid Meier's Spaceships that we'll get too. However there really is no point in keeping dedicated subs for the other non-Firaxis/SM games when they aren't used and All Other Games can use the activity. Galactic Civilizations' subforum is still being used a bit because of Gal Civ 3, but it's not going to have enough activity to be worth it's own subforum when a couple of threads in AoG will be perfectly sufficient, contribute more activity to AoG, and probably get a lot more attention than they would shoved away in their own subforum. Same deal with the Total War series.

We'll see what kind of replies your thread in the subforums about keeping them or not gets.

I think stimulating AoG is much more important than having individual, barely-used subforums. They'll probably get more attention if they're in the main sub.

I looks like running an SQL inquiry to automatically add prefixes or tag to the thread to be moved is too risky for damage to the database. Therefore we will be manually editing the threads over a period of weeks to add the prefixes or tags, before moving them to their destinations.

Proposed reorganization of Other Games & All Other Games fora

all the sub fora under All other games be moved or eliminated

Eliminate the Spore forum and dump its threads into All Other games

Move Chess to directly under Other games

Create a new forum under Other Games called Other Sid Meier Games, move all threads from Colonization, Sid Meir’s Pirates, and Sid Meier’s Railroads there, and eliminate their respective sub fora

Create a new Forum under Other Games called Other Civ Like Games or other Civ Related Games and move threads from Master of Orion, Call to Power Series, Galactic Civilizations II, and Rise of Nations to there and eliminate their respective sub fora.

Sounds great.

Create a new Forum under Other Games called Other Civ Like Games or other Civ Related Games and move threads from Master of Orion, Call to Power Series, Galactic Civilizations II, and Rise of Nations to there and eliminate their respective sub fora.

I think "Civ Related Games" would work better for that one. Maybe with a sub-title giving more indepth explanation.

All very good choices and I am very glad to see these, except for the "Other Civ Like Games", I think that Gal Civ 3 threads would benefit a lot from being in AoG, if they are relegated to a subboard of OG like the Total War one is now they will not get nearly as much attention.

The TW subforum is pretty much dead now despite being a popular series, it would be much better if it was rolled into AoG as well.

I still think MoO, CtP and RoN could also easily be replaced by a single thread, for the same reasons above and that they are, sadly, dead :(
