A rebirth of the British Empire...well, sort of :)

this is a very good idea. it would easily be the greatest superpower the world has ever known. we would then be serious competition for the chinese.

I'd be in favor of admitting the Canadian provinces, England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland as states. And, while we're at it, the Austrailan states and New Zealand to boot.

You'd think these countries, and all the others you posted, would be more...cooperative...if they were merely American vassals.

Those countries in the quotes were merely economically dependent on the US, not vassals.

The question is if Europe will hold up its end of the bargain when the commies come for us, cause i think we'll need it

Strangely that is very much the question that Western Europe asked during the Cold War regarding America. Would the United States really be prepared to risk its own destruction to help defend European NATO from the USSR?

Based on what Reagan said regarding keeping a Nuclear exchange limited to Europe in 1981 the answer was apparently no they wouldn't.

So I suppose the next question is whether we're better allies than you guys? ;) :p

As states eh? That would mean a Democrat president elected every 4 years!;)

The problem wasn't so much just the quote as the fact that the United States was actively looking at tactical nuclear warfighting plans based on containing a limited nuclear exchange within Europe.

Once you've let the Russians know you'd like to do that they're not likely to take the strategic threat quite as seriously ;)

No need for that the Illuminati already have you connected :)

I think this would be a great idea. Sign me up! (After all, i am already a citizen of all 3 countries..... :) )

No. No. No. It would not be possible. We are already to close to eachother already, why make it official? I think that us Americans are just fine separated from Britain and Canada thank you very much.

What about the US joining the commonwealth? It is a sucessor state of former British colonies...

I asked about that once before and apparently there is some rule about breaking away by force from the empire that denies eligibility to join.

A rebirth of the British Empire would be a dreadful thing.

If Britain became a 51st state we would get twice as many Electoral College votes than Cali. After all we wouldnt want taxation without representation would we ;)

OK, you learn the rules of cricket and we will take all the U's out of colour/flavour/armour. Deal?

Forget it, the Yanks have already imposed baseball on us, we don't need that even more disgusting abomination known as cricket. At least baseball has the courtesy to be over in a few hours.

And I'll continue to spell colour, centre and organise properly. :p

God Save the Queen in Lexington, that would be fun.
It reminds me of the proposal the English Gov sent to the French one a few days before Petain came into power to unify France and the UK (the latter was a bit worried about the French fleet beeing seized by Germany, unifying both countries ment they would have control on that).
It also reminds me of how volunteer -and thus sometimes naive- are the USA these days in remodeling nations. History has a word to say.

Hehe, I'm sure a lot of people are against it purely on the basis of history from over 200 years ago. Personally, if the UK merged with Canada and the US, I don't see the big problem apart from problems with Europe.

On the grounds of nationality, the US and Canada probably owes more to Europe than to the UK, but effectively we're all interlinked somehow. It's just there's a weird notion of 'America for Americans, Canada for Canadians, and Britain for the British'. Somewhere down that line we're all of the same or similar European origins. Nationalism is an artificially-made sentiment.
