AA03: DeGaulle's Aggressive Adventures

Here's the updated dot map.

Yes these were supposed to be berserkers' spots though I seem to have misplaced one of the signs  I did it as nearly everyone liked the dotmap.

why would you settle black that early? I'm for Bule > Brown/Green, depending on how close the next AI is.

lurking: Black is settled on a Floodplain- 1east? It's what I'd do, but my city placement is horrible.

Not very much to report.
Lost an archer defending on hill, to a warrior across river
The archer was probably wounded before ...
Tech learned: Mysticism, started IW.

Orleans founded, 1 more FP, but no visible seafood :(

A bad event in capital. I don't know about the odds of continue the revolt if the 3rd option is chosen :dunno: Once I've tried it the revolt continued longer I could tolerate, so now I chose the 2nd. Took 4 turns to get back to size 4 before I started another settler.

IW in, started Alphabet tentatively, only Mao has it so far. A good news we have Iron :D

Monument whipped in Orleans to get access to Copper earlier.

Spoiler :

The position of black is arguable, since it wastes a precious floodplains.

The position of green is also arguable (but less), since the west is still unknown.

But I think we should go for green first, serves us better. With copper, we are not that pressured to go for black (unless Caesar is eying it).

Got it.

A straightforward turnset, and relatively uneventful.

Firstly, Brennus became Jewish.

Hmmm ... why didn't any religion spread to us?

Then, I decided to go for the silver spot first -- as I said, iron wasn't crucial with copper, and we better grab the more useful site first.

THOU SHALL NOT TRESPASS

Got to love the auto repulsion feature of the wall. :D

The greatest event in my set was sounding of war horn ...

:hammer:

The situation at the end of my turns.

We are about to spawn a great spy -- what to do with him?

I whipped a worker from Paris, starting a granary next.

Lyons is at healthy cap already, but when the wheats come on line, it should take care of things. I have also started the granary there, probably need to whip.

We may also consider taking sailing soon -- we need the river connecting feature. Our economy isn't pretty.

good turns, negy and fox ~ slowly and steadily we expand. Whether it'll mean anything in the end . . . :mischief:

we need ABCs pretty soon, but it looks like it's coming in 20 turns. Perhaps a little binary research to save us a turn or two? After that ABC > Sailing? I'm not sure that would be worth the turns to research it when we could use the roads anyway for defensive purposes.

I agree on black dot: any one of those plains tiles on the river would save the FP and still let us build the levees. Personally, i still think we need to settle black next and cottage it up. We're working from a deficit to begin with at Emperor AND we took the time to build TGWall so we're extra behind. I think black and then further to the west are good moves next.

Roster:
beserks01 >> UP NOW
Imhotep >> on deck
pholkhero
mystyfly
negyvenketto
GreyFox >> just played

Ok. We can move black 1W to save the floodplain. Plus, I doubt Lyons will be working ALL it's floodplain with the health issue, so black can help it out if need be.

I'll pick it up and play tomorrow.

I think we should settle the GSpy and direct all our EPs on someone (no clue who tbh). We'll be able to steal some techs, inflict some revolts later and get some beakers extra.

hmm, perhaps we should go all EE this game?? cut our science rate, and raise the esp. pts? might be an advantage to us at this point in the game, in order to catch up.

I say settle the GSpy as well, and get teh thief economy rolling

Lurkers Note (hey i've never lurked before :))

doesn't the move actually mean you gain 1 FP but lose 2? (apart from the shared ones)

Yeah, I'd noticed that when I took a look at the save last night. Moving 1E is better.

1 E of black dot sounds good to me as well, then maybe one more quick settler to head to the far NW there?

And what do we think of the Great Spy and/or the EE??

and beserks has it

We're doing a EE game on immortal and it worked like a charm (mobbing up now :D) I'd say we go for it. However not necessarily the full-blown EE (aka no selfresearching), merely using EE to support selfresearch.

make it so ~ ;) then isn't the best use to merge a GSpy as instructor or SYard? Then just focus your overall eps on one or individual.

It seems it would pay off more in the long run, and I think that's what we did in a recent PH game.
